Another amazing dining experience for veggie lovers who want a flavour hit.

Lunch on the 13/08/2017! Four things make a great meal: food, atmosphere, price and the service. Transformer met all those superbly. A special mention is to our waitress Samantha; who provided excellent service with a lovely smile. Certainly will return in the future.

We started off with an elixir and then jumped straight into cocktails and a few bottles of wine The vegetarian menu did not remind us at all that we were missing any meat as everything we ordered was full of flavour and looked beautiful Would highly recommend!!

The food was delicious. We got the chefs selection which was 7 courses, probably too much food but we enjoyed it. We were offered the vegan choices which was great for my partner who is lactose intolerant. The service was amazing, our waitress was very attentive but not over the top! Would definitely come back again :)

Vegetables are the heroes! We selected two starters and four mains, which was a comfortable quantity. All plates where shared, which appeals to us. An abundance, and interesting variations, of flavours. If we were to select our favourites; the sweet corn fritter starter and the eggplant main. However, all dishes were excellent.

Vegie Bar 2.0 For those of you who know Melbourne’s vegetarian dining scene, it’s time to get excited. Welcome to Vegie Bar 2.0. The owners of Brunswick Street’s bustling eateries, Vegie Bar and Rice Queens are behind Transformer, which slots nicely into the Fitzroy dining scene in Rose Street. Owners Laki Papadopoulos and Mark Price have turned a former electrical transformer warehouse into a smart vegetarian restaurant. Carefully placed concrete planter boxes create intimate dining spaces with recycled timber, brass fixtures and an abundance of plants filling the room. Although Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Asian inspired like Vegie Bar, chef Luke Florence has upped the ante with the menu, which is slightly more refined and sophisticated than its neighbour. Expect to see dishes like ricotta and rye gnocchi with pumpkin mousse and blueberry compote, instead of veggie burgers, stir fries and wraps. This 100-seater also has a bar with cocktails, cold pressed juices, organic soft drinks, tea and coffee. It’s another Fitzroy favourite.
