Upon arrival at about 7.10pm, the service was friendly and bubbly. Unfortunately, the waiter took the order about 30 minutes later and wrote it down incorrectly. Entrees got served at about 8.15pm, by this time we were starving...It was lucky we trusted our own instinct instead of listening to the waiter and we order two prawns and one serve of calamari (the waiter said one serve of prawns would be enough, what we order barely filled us up!) About 9.30pm our mains came out. We were absolutely starving and relieved to finally have food infront of us. Unfortunately, the seafood marinara (that this restaurant is renowned for) was served with a white wine sauce however it was ordered with a tomato base sauce. By the time the waiter came over, one mussel was eaten from this plate and the shell returned to the dish. The dish was sent back and a few minutes later a replacement dish was given. Unfortunately, due to the empty mussel shell still being in the dish, we were made aware that the original dish served had simply had tomato sauce thrown through it, hence, the seafood had been cooked twice and would no doubt be overcooked. The dish was once again sent back to the kitchen (the waiter didn't seem happy that we requested this) and 15 minutes later, the chef brought out a new plate of marinara. He asked what was wrong with the first dish. As we tried to explain to him, he lent over the table and grabbed an empty beer bottle and said "How much have you guys had to drink?" and he walked off. Absolutely appauling! The reason the drinks were being purchased in the first place is because we had been waiting over two hours for our main meals to arrive, not to mention I'm pregnant so saw things through sober eyes! Around 10pm the plates were cleared off our table. about 10minutes later I asked to see the dessert menu and received a grunted "yep" from the waiter. Needless to say no desserts were ordered. They did offer us complimentary port to make up for the evenings mishaps however the service was simply not good. The food was amazing (Once we received it!). Unfortunately we won't be returning.
Hi Jess; thanks for some of your positive feedback; however we're sorry to hear your experience was not the best…thanks for bringing this to our attention.This feedback is very surprising and disappointing. A two hour wait is quite out of character for our small restaurant. As for your order; we apologise for the mishap. We serve lots of customers each week and feedback is usually positive. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.

Love this place. The sign says 'authentic' Italian & it is absolutely correct. The food is always excellent, the wine list is good. & the staff are lovely. It can be noisy when it's busy so not suitable for romantic dinners or business meetings, but the restaurant is not big so the noise is tolerable. We had a couple of small issues on our last visit - the same Dean Martin CD on repeat all night so we went to sleep singing Volare. Also we stayed late and they cleaned the kitchen before we had finished eating. Nice to know it's really clean, but we got a whiff of chlorine bleach with the tiramisu. We mentioned this to staff, who had not realised how far the smell would travel, so hopefully this won't happen again. It really is a neighbourhood gem.
