Went for Bastille Day celebration. Excellent venue and beautiful food. The French-themed decorations, dancers and waiters added to the ambience. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Will be back.

An amazing night. From the selection of food from our 7 course meal to the wines that accompanied the meals. The services was tremendous and made the atmosphere so much more enjoyable. A night to look back on and enjoy.

Perhaps we dined on a bad night? Given the fab reviews we had high expectations of The Pearl. Sadly, we were left really disappointed. The seating was very cramped for a table of four (our view was of the back wall and kitchen entry - not even half an arm length away) so perhaps this should have been set as a table for two? The table seated next to us (more on top of us) were using a phone as a flashlight to read the menu (we had to do the same) as the lighting was inadequate. We paid an exorbitant fee for a tiny beetroot and goats cheese tart for an entree (think it was in the range of $20+ from memory) and when there is less than a quarter of a teaspoon of goats cheese sprinkled over predominantly rocket leaves, I would question the legitimacy of adding it as an ingredient!! There were no vegetarian options for mains - this was advertised online. Overall our main meals were just okay. Given the price (on average of $38 for a small sized main) we were disappointed (the jus on the pork belly was overcooked and the burnt flavour over powered the dish). We didn't proceed to dessert and high-tailed it out of there! $306 for a really average meal. Again, perhaps we dined on an off night? However, I don't think we will dine at The Pearl again to compare the experience to our first.

I thought my meal was good without being great. My wife thought her duck was very over cooked. The service was delightful. Very limited choice of wine by the glass

3 out of our party of 5 were very happy with both meal and service. 2 of our party said their steaks were cold and a little tough but all loved their drinks and service was Fab.

We stood out the front waiting for someone to speak to us for 5-10 mins most of the waiters looked at us and looked back down, we ended up walking off for 10 minutes, the only reason we came back was that we knew we would be charged if we didn't Make our booking. Once were served it was OK, my dessert was freaking amazing (ganache) , entree very average scallops though my partner had an amazing entree (angus tartar) and good dessert (brule) . Two waiters had great service which was a flamboyant gentleman that I didn't get the name of and a waitress called gabby, but the shambles at the beginning of the night and that impression of being ignored by the staff really let the restaurant down. Atmosphere kinda just felt like a cafe. We were told by a friend that this is the best restaurant in Darwin so we might have just had our hopes up too high or they might have just been having an off night.. We will try again in the future for hopes of a better experience. Main was fish really nice. Overall quite nice but not Darwin's best.
