First time back in years and not sure why I waited so long! Just as good as I remembered. A bit of atmosphere (maybe some background music on a Saturday or Sunday) wouldn't go astray - otherwise, YUM!

Staff were friendly and polite. We didn't have to wait too long for our food or drinks and had a pleasant experience.

Seated promptly with drinks service. Good quality steak, knowledgeable wait staff, good service and recommend sitting upstairs as it's quieter for groups of 3 or less.

About The Meat & Wine Co Southbank

The name says it all This well-loved steak house has grown from other restaurants owned and named in the same vein. Australian cuisine is served with an African twist; highlighting the beautiful array of spices and different ways of cooking the lovely produce that they so reverently insist on serving their loyal customer base. A few token vegetarian dishes ensure that there are sufficient sides for the lighter eater, including a lovely Tuscan kale salad, a chickpea salad and a Greek version that is hard to beat. Starters include some delicious sounding teasers - Szechuan calamari, seared beef carpaccio and Boerwors, a delish African beef sausage. It is most definitely the selection of meat cuts that deserve your attention here: choose from a huge range of specially-aged and highly rated meats. Their side sauces are to die for - African hot chilli, Meranda Valley mushroom, and a homemade barbeque relish. The décor here is almost industrial - all polished materials including a very slick bar and cosy mannish couches and shelving. It all works, however, and the result is a very high-end, busy bar and restaurant. Best Dish: Rib eye on the bone
