Great authentic Italian Restaurant , my fourth visit. Vince & team go out of their way to please. The place is small, nice & quiet, you can hear yourself talk. Great service without being over bearing. There are daily specials, all are excellent. Wine list is good quality & value for money. Cheers Graeme C.

What a great night! Fantastic service, friendly atmosphere, great food and tremendous wine list. We were never hurried and there was plenty of help to evaluate the various specials and long wine list. A very relaxed serting.

About Sud Food & Wine

A Balance of Class and Comfort SUD is an intimate 45 seater Italian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne (between Lonsdale and Little Bourke), which boasts fresh local produce with an array of local and international dishes. While the limited seating implies formality, there is nothing pretentious going on here. The decor is restrained, with a large wine rack covering the back wall and posing as the main feature of decoration. This small, somewhat upmarket restaurant has a constantly evolving menu and an extensively dynamic wine list (hence the wine rack) to compliment every meal, sourced from various regions of Italy as well as local producers. Our favourite dish? It would have to be the generous signature plate from Head Chef, Mark Taylor - a main of duck, steamed and roasted, with sweet-potato mash and apple-balsamic segments to mop up the jus. This restaurant embodies the ‘Italian’ understanding of food, and diners are urged to ‘make a mess’ and enjoy. As they say ‘you don’t need a silver fork to eat good food!' From a business lunch to a romantic meal for two, SUD produces a reliable balance of class and southern Italian comfort. Best Dish: duck, steamed and roasted, with sweet-potato mash and apple-balsamic segments.
