Loved it! The tasting menu was definitely the way to go it was one of the best I’ve had! The standout for me was the squid ink pasta with cuttlefish but the beetroot came a close second! Oh I forget those gorgeous Brussel sprouts! The service was excellent with the waiters being really helpful and non-judgemental of our second bottle of wine! I will definitely go back!

My only criticism of the lovely menu is very limited options for vegetarians. I am vegetarian and only one small plate and one larger plate that weren’t seafood or meat.

The food is excellent we all loved our meals although if you fon's have small starters the main sized pasta dishes could be slightly bigger.

The extra small bites were all delicious, as was the squid ink pasta. Staff were friendly and they make a good martini. The front bar area had a lot more atmosphere than the back. The only let down of the evening was the braised goat which was very dry and lacked flavour. We would have happily discussed this with staff however there were no enquiries made as to how we enjoyed our meals.

We had the $35 family lunch which is great value. The three pasta dishes we shared were each very tasty and refreshingly unique. It’s nice to go to Italian and have some interesting options and not see the standard fare of lasagna, bolognese etc on the menu.

About Pinotta

Take a trip to Florence Found in Fitzroy’s North Village, this is the kind of trattoria that you would find in the backstreets of Florence. It’s got that local, intimate and hands-on feel about it. The food is honest, seasonal and European. Think handmade pasta, slow braises, oxtail, carpaccio and fresh whole fish. It’s unfussy and fresh. Owned by Heidi Modra, Pinotta's blackboard menu changes a few times a week and is predominately Italian, with a few French touches. There’s also a strong foucs on wine, with over forty different types available. Modra runs front of house and loves her wine. She’ll happily open a bottle if someone wants to try a glass so be bold and try something unusual. Pop into Pinotta for a decent drop and a quality meal. You’ll love it.
