Food: ingredients were on the verge of going stale except for the mussels which were definitely expired. It was a disrespect to paying customers and the ingredients and reflects a profound lack of integrity of the kitchen. Service: we were served fried potatoes that we had not ordered, which was mistaken for "fish and chips". Not sure where the communication broke down there. No apologies whatsoever. Atmosphere: the restaurant was empty with a full pub directly next door. We now know why. The music was loud and penetrating which starkly contrasted the quieter tones of the restaurant decor. This is not how we remembered this restaurant to be. The cheap multicoloured fairy lights strung across the ceiling was out of place. Would not be returning even for a free meal.

Nice casual night with tapas and sangria, thumbs up for the great service

Very friendly, happy and efficient waitress. The food has potential but the execution is a let down... Nothing is made to order all tastes like it is reheated in a microwave making it taste bland, dry and inconsistent food temperatures.

Paella was great!

Not the most visually appealing restaurant especially with dirty looking, broken menus and basic tables but the food is good for the prices.

We were given a voucher for Chritmas for $100.-the tapas dishes we got were the cheapest and the worst. We certainly won't be going there again

About Patagonian Toothfish

Tango with Your Tastebuds This handsome little place set up at the end of a row of terraces on Charmers Street in Redfern prides itself on offering some of the tastiest South American food in the district. This being a converted house, you can sit in one of the quirky little dining rooms inside or, at the right time of year, you can take advantage of a balmy Sydney summer evening by taking the al fresco option and joining the vibrant street life of Redfern. Patagonian Toothfish has an exciting range of Latin American-style tapas including Pulpitos a la Plancha, which is char-grilled baby octopus marinated in tomato and barbecue sauce, as well as Croquettas de jamon, a creamy mixture of potatoes, jamon and Spanish herbs, rolled in bread crumbs, lightly fried and served with aioli. If you’re after something more substantial they serve a very popular paella, consisting of blue swimmer crab, prawns, squid, mussels, chorizo and chicken in saffron Jasmine rice. Best dish: Patagonian Breakfast.
