I love fine dining but I found montalto to be trying to hard to be different. Some of the ingredients just didn’t mesh together and if anything clashed. The desserts were just not nice at all. And for the price I wished I didn’t order dessert. The wait staff are fabulous and the location is lovely. But overall the food was not right and I wouldn’t go back to montalto.

Food was cold , duck over cooked , cabbage was a tiny bit on the end of duck bone looked terrible , goats dish didn’t make sense with its bit of pasta sheet slapped over the top No discount offered and waitress was rude when I told her it was cold Won’t be back Wine tasted like a barrel Only good thing was the duck on the bone and moscato Point Leo estate wins hands down

Too expensive $18 for a glass of there own Shiraz forget it ! No table clothes just timber tables with scratches if I am paying for fine dining I want the works not a cafe lunch . The service 9/10 no problems at all but as we had been there a few years ago for lunch , white table clothes on every table with a beautiful set out table top to now a disappointing experience . Food $95 per person for about 8 small morsels , some had great flavour but to try and match wines with certain foods I couldn't because of the overblown wine prices per glass .We won't be back sorry

It used to be a very good restaurant, but the quality of the food went down. It was a disappointment.

Has Changed a lot since we last went, bread and olives were free, now charged for them, no putting napkins on lap, didn’t even open the door for us, our waitress was lovely but we won’t be back, plenty of better wineries on the peninsula

About Montalto

Food and views that feed the soul With expansive decks, abundant vegetable and herb gardens, vines and orchards, there is plenty to feast your eyes on at Montalto. There’s beauty everywhere you look. Eat at the casual piazza and Garden cafe, and get stuck into one of their cracking pizzas with a bottle of red, perch yourself around the grounds for a private catered picnic, or treat yourself to fine fare in the restaurant. The glass facade of Montalto’s modernist building frames a view of the rolling vineyards, and it’s all fine food and silver service inside. Each palate pleasing dish is an artistic blend of flavour and technique; scallop boudin graced by a gentle bacon and shiitake foam and rich flavoured rabbit terrine seasoned by pistachio butter and served with to-die for house made walnut bread are just some of the cutting edge culinary creations served up in these gorgeous grounds. One thing’s for sure, Montalto offers food that feeds the senses, and views that feed the soul. Make the trip out of Melbourne, and down to Red Hill for a roam around Montalto. Best dish: rich flavoured rabbit terrine seasoned by pistachio butter
