This restaurant is like a roller coaster, in the beginning it was consistently great and I LOVED it, but these days you can never be sure what you're getting. Thankfully this was a good visit. Wait and bar staff were charming and efficient and comped us a drink when there was a delay in the kitchen. Food was delicious. Luyu & Yum Yum was a favourite of mine for casual dining and I used to recommend it to everyone, hopefully they're back on track for good and I can become a regular again.

I loved the vibe of this place and the food was pretty good, but considering how many (really good) dumpling places there are in Sydney, I'd question going there again because of the price. Great for a special occasion or date.

Our waiter was particularly lovely. Beautiful food. My only suggestion would be to leave the water carafes on the tables.

Really enjoyed our evening! Nice ambience with music too! Love a place that also does not question the use of the entertainment card ! Abundance of yummy dumplings!

Really yummy dumplings. Service still needs improvement. Waited nearly 20 minutes to place order.

Fantastic dumplings. Chicken with walnuts a stand out main. The serice was quick and efficient to start with. But the simple Dessert took ages to get. The affogatto didn't fit with asian theme and all of us didn't want coffee that late and it wasn't explained that that was the dish as we had the banquet.

About Luyu & Yum Yum

Yum, yum indeed! This sexy, sleek dumpling house could stand proudly next to any CBD institution, but lucky Newtowner’s have scored it right on the main stretch of King Street. Take a seat and watch the chefs hard at work in the open kitchen and order a pot of tea from the extensive tea menu while you scan the menu. The obvious thing to order is dumplings - and there are plenty of them (we love the Mr Yum Yum pot sticker which are stuffed full of chicken ginger and shallots). There are also some select entrees, a few mains and noodle dishes + dessert. In a town that has multiple dumpling houses Luyu is already being noticed as a serious competitor. Best dish: salt & pepper squid.
