We enjoyed a delicious meal at La Grande Bouffe last night to celebrate our son's engagement. The food was classic French cuisine - the beef cheeks were cooked to perfection and the cassoulet very authentic. We had the cheese soufflé for entrée and it was superb. The $60 3 course mid week special is great value for a wonderful meal. We will return.

Enjoyed a quite lunch with a girlfriend here. It was quiet and friendly. Wine was good and the soufflé was delish.

I've wanted to try this restaurant for years, and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely meal and ambience with efficient, friendly service.

The Pate for starter was excellent and the Peppercorn steak was ok, but certainly not amazing.

Great local restaurant, we had an amazing (and very filling!) three course meal. Great value, food and service. We will be back to try brunch very soon.

This the second time in two months the meat has been tough. Food comes straight after ordered, suggesting much prepreparation has been done beforehand and food meat overcooked or tough because cooked too quickly. Best to keep to a casserole or stew. Three people at our table and the waiter doesnt rember who ordered which dish. Booking was for 3, waiter annoyed he poured water and left menu for a fouth person ..we were chatting and hadnt noticed the waiter do this. He asked whether we enjoyed our meal. Same waiter as last time ..when my friend started to politely give some feedback, he was dissmissive and made fun of her when she went to the loo. A large group of 8 to 10 men were so noisy, that many people asked to move away from them. Some soft furnishings to absorb some noise would be a good idea. Quality and service at this restaurant has declined significantly in recent years.

The menu was a bit disappointing and lacked originality. Food was good though but a bit pricey. The service was fantastic.

About La Grande Bouffe

Equal parts cosy and classy For a trip to the French countryside, where you can experience traditional French flavours with a delicate modern edge all day every day, La Grand Bouffe is it. Bringing a piece of France to Rozelle David and Meredith Poirier have created a space that’s cosy and classy with rich dark timber floors and sultry low level lighting that make this a casual yet refined dining experience. Omelettes all day, buttermilk french toast for breakfast, twice baked blue cheese souffle for lunch, beef bourguignon for dinner and chocolate fondant for dessert. This is authentic French dining at its very best. Getaway for a French feed by taking a trip to the Southern end of Darling Street. La Grande Bouffe is a true beauty. Best dish: twice baked blue cheese souffle
