This was my third visit to KoKo and unfortunately I left quite disappointed. The food was all up to it's usual standard but the service was INCREDIBLY slow. I was there for 2.5 hours and that was without any dessert or tea/coffee. The dishes took a very long time to come out and each item came out on its own - I'm not sure if this is how they usually serve their dishes as I don't remember it in the past but it meant there was a lot of sitting about with no food in front of us. Even after asking for the bill it took them a noticeably long time to a) bring it over and b) come back for payment. At $315 for two people the service has really put me off ever coming back.

Service was very good. Entrees delicious, main courses disappointing - small serve size, lacking flavour and expensive. Dessert was lovely. Air conditioning was too cold. Won't return.

Poor service from start to finish. Disappointing for such a high end restaurant. Food was mediocre. Would have rather spent half as much for similar meal.

It's our first time visiting Koko Japanese restaurant at Crown, great service when arrived. The table was facing to the nice yarra river. Food was great as no question, but price was a bit high too! I will visit it again for a special occasion!

Magnificent cuisine and service. The décor is relaxing and you feel like you are having quite a traditional Japanese experience.

About Koko

The ultimate Japanese restaurant - we've never seen anything like it ! Experience the serene ambience created by internationally renowned designer Tony Chi amidst the tranquil surrounds of a Japanese water garden at Koko. This sensational restaurant is situated in Melbourne’s Crown complex and is dedicated to premier Japanese cuisine. For those looking to spoil a special someone, this is the ideal venue - the tranquil indoor rock pool, soft timber tones and fine dining menu will seriously impress. For those looking for some fun, try the authentic teppanyaki and watch the expert chefs flip, chop and sizzle top quality produce. Alternatively, sake lovers can grab a drink in the sake bar which offers the city's best range of aged and exclusive sake from Australia and Japan. This is a striking venue which is one for the bucket list. Best dish: the mayura signature wagyu 300g
