Great service and wide selection of seafood! Great theme and menu has a lot of naughty treats. Great chilled atmosphere with old school Beach Boys music! Food can be a bit expensive which can be an indulging eatery but one that you would dine at moderately.

It was quite good experience. 1970’s American music and mood easily improve the taste of foods. Individually, sort of foods what I ate here also were in high level. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

The crab is amazing, the rest of the food we ordered was also great. Definitely one of my favourite places.

I am a regular customer her and we came for the oyster special only to be told we could only order a dozen outer between 2 people. I told the waitress we come here weekly and she said there is a cap on oyster that was not written anywhere.

Love the good and really pleased to see the new environmentally friendly pots rather than plastic bags. Service is not great here. Last few times we have waited a long time to get served, to get someone to come take our drinks orders, to get the bill. It’s the only let down.

Yum Cha was surprisingly good and plenty of spice which was just what we needed. Place was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon though but I'd imagine it would be kicking with a couple of more groups.

Good atmosphere, good (not-so) clean fun. You eat on the table with a cover on top. The flavouring though, wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be. It's not marinated, the flavour does not seep through - is the only constructive criticism.

About House of Crabs

A night of cracking crabs... On the first floor of The Norfolk Hotel in Redfern you’ll find a quirky space of red and white booths, blackboard menus, fairy lights and seaside paraphernalia: canoes, beach umbrellas, crab net chandeliers, gas lamps, nets and heavy ropes. - the whole works. Designer Mike Delany has gone all out to set the seafood shack scene at The House of Crabs, allowing diners to demolish an array of crustaceans in a funky coastal setting. Even the bar has been remodelled to look like a boat. Sounds cool huh? It really is! Get ready to throw all traditional dining manners out the window because at this laid back seafood eatery anything goes. All crabs come boiled in 500g sharing bags (chose from blue swimmer, snow or king), each one as cracking and tasty as the next. Other noteworthy dishes are without a doubt the chubby Redfern prawn roll ($9) and barbecue octopus taco ($6)...if you can fit them in. So roll up your sleeves and get ready to get down and dirty while enjoying a serious seafood spread. Oh and you’ll definitely want to wear a bib, it’s nothing but messy crowd-pleasing fun at the House of Crab. Get excited!!
