Second time in a week! Tried the upstairs section this time and it was better/quieter with the same tasty food and friendly service.

Great little find. The bar downstairs was perhaps a little noisy but the great service and food made up for it!

Great cocktail, nice food , atmosphere could be improved, smokers sitting outside makes smoke coming into the bar and restaurant area.

Such a great atmosphere. Bartender was great with my friends, suggesting cocktails they might like to try. Super casual, friendly and a good vibe. Nicely tucked away.

The downstairs bar was very funky for pre-dinner drink while waiting for group to all arrive. Moved upstairs for dinner & loved the ambiance & decor. The food was nice, my only gripe is that a listed dish or spicy chorizo turned out to be pan fried slices of Chinese sausage. Otherwise loved the food & reasonably priced

Food was brought out very quickly once we ordered. We nearly ordered everything on the menu to share and we could have been out of there in 1 hour which was not really the purpose of our get together.

Lovely meal pre-show at State Theatre, everyone really enjoyed the food. Pork skewers & chicken wings were succulent & tasty, delicious cocktails & great service.

About Grasshopper Eating House & Bar

Catch it if you can. This award winning urban watering hole is a hopping CBD gem. Be sure you don’t miss this little hideaway bar as it is very well concealed in a side alley off George Street. Inside, the Grasshopper is a weird and wacky space. This is perhaps enhanced by the team’s high regard for the environment; they use second hand furniture where possible, they are keen advocates of recycling and much of the menu focuses on organic foods and wines. Nestle down at one of their candlelit tables in the downstairs bar and sip on their (almost addictive) cocktails which come in recycled jam jars. The menu at the upstairs restaurant space is a classy take on familiar Asian-fusion comfort food. We love the hot, sweet and sticky sour pork with pineapple and capcicum. If you can find it hop on in… Best Dish: red braised pork, steamed bun & pickles.
