The chef prepares Northern Chinese specialities such as Peking Duck and dumplings to a high standard. One goes here for such food rather than atmosphere or other amenities.

Typical of a Chinese restaurant. You really need to work hard to get the attention of the waiting staff. One really annoying observation - I don't understand why they always have to jam both of the male toilet doors open to the full view of the dining room and you could hear what went on in the toilet, flushes and other offensive noises.

Went to celebrate our 1st year Chinese Wedding anniversary last night. We walked down the aisle in Beijing also on 8th May. I let the restaurant know this in advance and there was no acknowledgement of this e.g. no complimentary bottle of wine, dessert, or even fresh fruits so a bit disappointed. Very popular restaurant, so-so decor but great atmosphere with all the people, someone playing the grand piano would have made it better, especially considering it was Mother's Day! Peking duck was quite delicious, especially when it was still hot. Fried duck with udon type noodles followed and we were thoroughly stuffed. House red Cabarnet Shiraz was decent, ordered the whole bottle for around $25. Satisfied with their full cooperation in handing over the duck carcass upon request, something a fancier restaurant in the city or elsewhere would probably refuse...a great homemade duck bone broth with hot & sour preserved mustard soup & tofu will be boiling away quite nicely tonight!!

We have been to the restaurant many times before. Last night was not at the usual standard. It seems that there may be new chefs or owners. Our standard favourites were not as good as before.

The service was very efficient and friendly. The prawns and beef were very tender and delicious. As expected, house wine by the glass was reasonable quality. Friendly atmosphere with families dining in small and large groups and quite a few small children (who had fun but still behaved themselves). The large area was filled with happy diners and the noise level was reasonable for such a large crowd. Not the place for a romantic first date or any intimacy but great for a general get-together with family and friends. Good value overall. Remember to book for a Saturday evening, very popular.
