About Fire & Spice
Feeling hot, hot, hot! It's not often that you are able to source authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Australia, but Fire & Spice on Old Cleveland Road in Coorparoo have finally answered that prayer! With a charming dining room full of greenery and walls adorned with traditional Sri Lankan paintings, this restaurant also extends out onto the street and into a lovely alfresco area for outdoor dining. The space is ideal for a casual and inexpensive meal with friends and can also accommodate large groups of people for a bigger gathering or celebration. The restaurant tends to be busy creating a lively atmosphere. Service is friendly and fast with the waitstaff taking their time with diners to explain the various dishes to them. Fire & Spice live up to their namesake by serving authentic Sri Lankan food with a really spicy kick to it! Some of the dishes are certainly not for the faint hearted. Highlights on the menu include the Lamprais (rice, fish cutlet, eggplant and prawn garnished with cashew nuts), the Vegetarian Biryani and the Traditional Goat Meat Curry. On some evenings the restaurant will host a large buffet service, offering guests an opportunity to sample some of those dishes that they may have been to wary to order previously. Servings are generous and the price for the food is very reasonable. Best dish: Lamb Kothu Roti - chopped roti cooked on an open grill along with a variety of vegetables and sauces.
