The Charing Cross Hotel, or the Charo as it is known locally, has its dining room open seven days a week for dinner and Friday-Sunday for Lunch. This popular eatery is filled with locals. It has the high ceilings, statement wall lights, cane and wooden chairs that are reminiscent of the Raffles in Singapore. Wind the clocks forward 80 plus years and the Charo today is a bustling haunt of locals and regulars who come for a meal, to support local charities or just sit by the fireplace and while away the weekend. The restaurant features modern European and Australian food and the neighbours consider it a gem. Couples spend time together and large groups celebrate, all the while enjoying the “great atmosphere”, delicious food and friendly service.
