Superb flavours!

This place is a must for any Japanese foodie. The authentic flavours and menu are just fabulous. The service was fantastic, the waiter gently suggesting the chefs specialties and they were every bit as delicious as promised. Just missed the Miso soup that is always served with the main meal when in Japan. P.S. The Black Sesame ice cream was amazing

All of the staff were very friendly, helpful and recommended their favourite meals/drinks which would be helpful for someone who doesn't eat a lot of Japanese. They're reasonably priced and the atmosphere is fantastic. I would wholly recommend them.

About Asahi Japanese

Restaurant of the rising sun Asahi is Ballarat’s first sushi and sashimi joint. It’s no wonder the name translates to ’rising sun’ as it must have been a glorious day for this little Victorian town. Japanese sashimi isn’t just fresh fish slapped onto your plate. If it were that easy, we’d be making it at home. Actually, it takes a wizened chef to first select the fine seafood, and then to slice it in a way that requires years of expertise. That’s why we go to asahi where the chefs know what they’re doing and the sashimi is just like they have it in Japan - delicious. Japanese food is also renowned for its healthiness, most of which is low fat, unsaturated, fresh and delicate. That makes Asahi the place for a delicious, and more importantly, guilt-free, gobble. Try some authentic miso chicken, made from Japan’s famous fermented marinade, or some teriyaki salmon, that fatty fish that experts praise as a superfood. We’re just stoked that it’s all so good for you! Gotta love Japanese food, gotta love Asahi. Best dish: Sukiyaki Udon
