A busy setting for superb Sri Lankan food.Just spicy enough but would suit those not seeking spice too.Loved the chicken Molle and the Beef Jaggery

Our group of 6 had a truly beautiful meal at Araliya. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was delicious Sri Lankan food with a modern twist. My favourites were the Spice Crusted Fish and the Devilled Prawns, but I think everything is worth trying. Guided by Dee, I ordered for our group of 6 and everything was just right. I have no hesitation in recommending Araliya.

A meal at Araliya is the best therapy. I always feel replenished in very way after dining there. The Jaggery beef is so tender and delicious. A total must. I tried the steamed coconut custard and banana sorbet dessert last night and it was simply sublime. As always, looking forward to my next visit.

Drinks at the bar ensured we were off to a good start. Highly recommend the Sri Lankan Mule prepared by the attentive and skilful bar man Delicious fresh flavours combined with friendly service. Pan rolls and chicken molle were out of this world. Also loved the green beans with cashews and kifler potatoes. Kitchen staff show they have great pride in showcasing beautiful food. We will be returning

We loved it. Quite traditional Sri Lankan although the curries have been made a bit prettier & the spice toned down. Lovely flavours. The dessert was one of the best I've ever had, a coconut pudding with banana sorbet- sounds simple but was absolutely delicious!

Absolutely delicious modern Sri Lankan. The flavour s are so bang on, you just want to eat absolutely everything. The service was great - the staff are so lovely! I can’t wait to go back and take new people there.

About Araliya

Spicing up St Kilda Within the white walls of Araliya on Fitzroy Street in St Kilda there is some serious spice going on. Chef Sam Wedande, who was trained in hotel management and cookery in Sri Lanka, melds traditional Sri Lankan cooking and French technique, using Sri Lankan herbs and spices to create unique dishes such as wagyu brisket with cardamom and kithul palm sap; and duck confit in a roast-fennel curry. With Wedande’s wife, Dee, running the restaurant floor, Araliya is a true Sri Lankan showcase where food prevails and conversation follows. Be part of that conversation. Best dish: baked crab - fresh crabmeat cooked with green chilli and cheese, baked in the shell to a golden brown served with a ragi (Kurrukkan flour) roti bread.
