Service was great as one of the staff was very friendly and chirpy. Scallops w pig ears were amazing and the squid/chorizo dish was also great. We did get food envy seeing mussels served to other tables. Shared the truffled salami pizza which was delicious. Definitely want to come back.

Kobe Jones Melbourne

Docklands

Deborah dined on Mon, 24th Jul 2017 (7)

We had 3 birthdays to celebrate and decided to head here. Unfortunately, teppenyaki is not available with specials but we did get a nice seat by the water. Ordered the Perfect for 2 set menu which came with lobster, beef tataki, dragon roll & selected additional dishes like the toothfish, lobster, spider roll, lotus root, edamame etc The dishes came out one after the other until more people came in - the last few dishes took about an hour. Nothing really stood out, mayb the toothfish and the lobster in the set menu, however the sashimi scallops were amazing and the crème brulee tasted eggy. The cheesecake was also a bit weird w heavy cheese and hard base.

Zio's Restaurant

East Melbourne

Deborah dined on Sat, 13th May 2017 (10)

Went to Zios for an early Mother's Day dinner and my mum loved it! We shared a seafood platter, pork belly and linguine for entree. All the seafood was great and pork belly/scallops were delicious. Sis had the kangaroo which she ordered rare, 2 of us had eye fillet which was perfect - I found the potatoes and chorizo to be too much as plate was quite full already, the pickled onions was a great side. Rib eye was nice and the duck breast was also cooked well. Souffles were light and fluffy, semifreddo yum and the white choc mousse balanced nicely w the fruit.

Tulip

Geelong West

Deborah dined on Fri, 7th Apr 2017 (9)

We chose 4 waves for $69 and found there to be quite a lot of food. The bread and butter was delish! Crunchy prawns were yum albeit a bit salty, beef rib went really well w the potatoes & salad which had crunchy bits. Will definitely come back again as wine list was also great at reasonable prices.

The Railway Club Hotel

Port Melbourne

Deborah dined on Sun, 2nd Apr 2017 (9)

Got tempted to come back with the specials which were emailed to me. Lamb shoulder was great w the spiced carrots & iceberg salad. The eye fillet w marrow butter was ok as we normally use a different sauce w our steak. Would probably come back and get what we usually order instead. Friends did love the fish w the clam chowder.

Bomba

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 31st Mar 2017 (9)

We had our team dinner here so quite a large group w a set menu. Everyone enjoyed the croquettes, oysters, jamon, pork jowl & bay bugs. I loved the cabbage salad and rest of group really enjoyed the corn and lamb ribs. Staff was attentive, funny and substituted the seafood for other items for one person. We were seated at the back so it was easy to have conversations - the red sangria is better than the white one!

Red Spice Road

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Thu, 23rd Feb 2017 (9)

We ordered the banquet for $29.50pp which included the popular pork belly dish. It also came with barramundi and green beef curry to share. Food was plentiful along w the appetizer so there was definitely no room left for dessert. Wasn't a fan of the fish but loved the green curry. Pork belly is always good but slightly dry - don't overdo w the sauce on your rice!

Fratelli Fresh Alfred Place

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 31st Jan 2017 (9)

Service was fantastic as staff were very friendly and funny. Ordered the Atomic which wasn't very spicy so the chili oil was good. The polenta was delicious along w the sauce which accompanied it, however my friend didn't really enjoy her lentil salad.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 13th Dec 2016 (9)

The wagyu pappardelle was really good & fast service. Great deal w pasta & wine for $20.

A25 Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 6th Dec 2016 (9)

Came here for a team lunch and it was an enjoyable atmosphere. Most ordered the wagyu papperdelle as I tried the squid ink and the special of the day - baby octopus w chili/capers. Found the squid ink pasta to be more flavoursome and different to what you would normally order. The lunch special is great as you get a drink as well for only $20.

Booked a team lunch for 6 of us on Pizza Monday. Either $14 for pizza or $20 inc beer or house wine. Nearly all of us ordered the bunga bunga, rest enjoyed the carbonara, Bim Bum Bam and Pizzagna. Everything was very delicious especially accompanied by a drink. Service was great but I would try get here a little before 12 next time. Sooo tasty topped w the chili oil.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 25th Oct 2016 (9)

Mondays and Tuesdays are great as they have specials for pizza of pasta. Tried the squid ink pasta with crab meat and prawns which was very flavorsome. My friend had the wagyu papperdelle - delicious also! Service is a bit slow with the food due to the number of people there during lunch, especially if there is a big group. A tad noisy to have proper conversations in here.

The Railway Club Hotel

Port Melbourne

Deborah dined on Sat, 22nd Oct 2016 (9)

Starters were mussels, oysters, sharing platter and pork belly/scallops. The mussels are always great and we also had two bottles of red wine for the table. Nearly everyone had the eye fillet w black garlic and truffle sauce. Butters are quite generous servings. The steak is a good size with crunchy hand cut chips and everyone were quite full. Strawberry mess is their best dessert and sticky date pudding comes second.

The Railway Club Hotel

Port Melbourne

Deborah dined on Sun, 25th Sep 2016 (9)

Had the sharing platter for two + the mussels for start between 6 of us. The mussels are great with the bread/spicy sauce and the platter had a bit of everything for us to try. Best steak would have to be the eye fillet accompanied with black garlic and truffle aioli sauce and the chips are just perfect. The fried broccoli in sweet n sour sauce wasn't great but the mushrooms were good. Everyone enjoyed the desserts even though they said they were too full - best if the strawberry mess, then sticky date & choc fondant is my partner's fav. Highly recommend the eye fillet & desserts here!

Meatmaiden

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 13th Jul 2016 (8)

We ordered the brisket and the serving was huge! I don't think there was enough BBQ sauce on the side & some parts were a bit too salty. saying that, we actually couldn't finish the dish as was too full. The butter lettuce was a good addition to balance the flavours as we also had the lobster mac & cheese - divine! It's too big a portion to finish for one person so best to share this. My friend also tried the beef tartare. Menu looks great so def worth coming back.

The Railway Club Hotel

Port Melbourne

Deborah dined on Sun, 3rd Jul 2016 (9)

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was definitely buzz as everyone had the same idea for a lazy lunch with friends or family. Decided on the 750g rib eye to share with a pork ribs starter. The ribs were nicely seasoned, right amount of spice & tender. The coleslaw was slightly too salty. The steak was well cooked but the mushroom sauce was a bit of a let down. I found the truffle oil butter did not have enough of the truffle flavour either. The green beans side was average & I think I may try the mushrooms instead. The desserts were delicious! The choc fondant w salted caramel & Kahlua ice cream was to die for & I loved the strawberry eaton mess which made with jelly cubes & vanilla marshmallow. They were not overly sweet & perfect to end the meal. Will definitely come back another time to try the other dishes, especially the different cuts of steak.

The Bohemian Restaurant Bar

South Wharf

Deborah dined on Wed, 29th Jun 2016 (9)

We went for the suckling pig special on Wed nights. It was a main & dessert for $35. Dish was a generous slab of pork w the crunchy crackling. The churros was delicious w the choc sauce as it wasn't overly sweet. The specials for the day sounded great (croquettes) but there was already a lot of food so could not try them.

BangPop

South Wharf

Deborah dined on Sun, 8th May 2016 (7)

We had the sharing plates for Mother's day. The lychee duck salad was yum and the lamb curry was very tender. I just don't think there was enough spice in either and the dessert were donuts w a nice twist of having ice cream topped w coffee to dip them in. Everything was pleasant and we did also order fish cakes and pad ew see on top of the set menu.

House of Crabs - St Kilda

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Sat, 16th Apr 2016 (7)

Popped in early before heading to a comedy show at the Palais. We ordered the soft shell crab taco, balmain bugs and the blue swimmer crab w cajun seasoning. The tacos were great and we will probably try a spicier sauce next time w prawns. It was fun w the full Dexter outfit but the gloves were too big for me. All the utensils were sufficient for us to get to the crab meat but would definitely come back to try something different.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 5th Apr 2016 (7)

Mondays and Tuesdays are a bargain with specials on their pizzas & pastas. The menu has been changed and the squid ink pasta was not as impressive as their previous dishes. Will come back to try pizza instead.

The Bohemian Restaurant Bar

South Wharf

Deborah dined on Fri, 18th Mar 2016 (9)

Loved the manchego leek croquette & grilled octopus. The service was very good & the housemade chorizo is a must try. Will have to come back for the rest of the dishes & possibly have a function here as everything was so delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the flavour of the scallops though but overall a great experience. Didn't get a chance to try dessert either but the staff were very informative and there were plenty to choose from.

Bomba

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 23rd Feb 2016 (9)

Every time I come to Bomba, I am never disappointed! We shared the swordfish, pipis, scallops, octopus and gazpacho. All dishes were great especially the pipis, scallops and grilled octopus. Finished off with a portuguese tart =P

Pastuso

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 15th Jan 2016 (10)

Love this place & cannot fault it! The ceviche had lots of flavour, the skewers were yum (this time the beef tasted better than the swordfish as that was a bit too salty), cheesy croquetas were delish, grilled calamari very tender, alpaca tartare was ok and desserts were both great. the puff pastry filled with caramel was rich and the sponge soaked with milk served with roasted pineapple ice cream was amazing.

O'Connell's Centenary Hotel

South Melbourne

Deborah dined on Fri, 8th Jan 2016 (7)

The oysters were nice but a bit overpriced seeing there were small and had bits of shell left in them. The scallops were delicious w the chorizo bits however the steak tartare was a bit of a let down. It was lacking in flavour and they did not end up charging me for this dish as I couldn't finish it. My friend had the eye fillet which was nicely charred.

Bomba

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 23rd Dec 2015 (10)

The lunch menu at $15 per person is a bargain! Pork is always great and so is the freekah salad. Enjoyed the smoked eel croquette whilst the rest had (and loved) the spiced beetroot and goatcurd's toast. I tried the calamari bocadillo but then was too full for the portugese tart =/

Chow City

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 18th Dec 2015 (7)

We tried the tuna sashmi, crab meatball, oysters & pork belly. Everything was quite average when the pictures on Instagram looked amazing. Perhaps I need to ask for chef's recommendations next time.

Henry and the Fox

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Thu, 1st Oct 2015 (8)

Had a 6.30pm reservation but it was difficult to get service seated at the table was it was quite busy with after work drinks. Ordered the lamb pizza (very yum with onion jam), short beef rib & burger. Everything was amazing and reasaonbly priced. Will definitely come here again for the steaks or burger again. It was a bit noisey and was hard to have a conversation. At times it was difficult to get the attention of the staff as well.

Pastuso

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 18th Aug 2015 (9)

Love the swordfish/beef skewers & the roast smoked chicken was amazing. The scallops, spicy ceviche and mushroom croquette was yum as well. Would like to see the alpaca shoulder or beef heart back on the menu so I can try it!

Pastuso

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Sun, 5th Jul 2015 (9)

Got there slightly early so was given the table overlooking the dining area & the kitchen. It was great to watch the chef preparing the ceviche & deserts. Tried the alpaca tartare & the ceviche - both delicious. Would probably choose a different ceviche next time as I had expected it to have a bit more lime to it. The swordfish and beef skewers were extremely tender with a spicy sauce - def order again. The stuffed peppers and pork in pastry were ok. For mains we had the snapper & a side of potatoes which were so, so. I really wanted to try the alpaca shoulder and beef heart but both items were no longer on the menu. The boys ended up ordering the striploin as well which was great but sadly meant we had no room for dessert =/

Pastuso

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Sat, 4th Jul 2015 (8)

Had a nice seat next to the window and was catching up with fellow Inca Trail trekkers. The swordfish and beef skewer was the standout and shared some quinoa bread. + cassava chips. Also had the sweet potato donuts, cheese platter & apple pastry w ice cream. Need to come back to try rest of menu!

Nevsky Russian Restaurant

Elsternwick

Deborah dined on Wed, 24th Jun 2015 (10)

Loved the dumplings and found the cabbage a bit on the heavy side. The sauce was nice but could not eat much of it. I did find the salmon entree average and everything was served with sour cream. Did not see prawns on menu as would have wanted to try that, the degustation menu or vodka tasting next time. It was a Wednesday night so had slightly more people thatn expected on a cold weeknight. I forgot to get a bloody mary!

El Burro

Williamstown

Deborah dined on Wed, 17th Jun 2015 (9)

Booked here on a Wed then realised it was $20 paella night! The seafood was plentiful with both tiger and king prawns, fish, mussells and calamari. Loved the aioli that came with the chorizo croquettes and the pork was perfect with the crunchy crackling accompanied with the pear chutney. I liked how the prawns were well flavoured and had a bit of a kick which I have never found with other paellas. Their wine and beer list has a nice variety also. Would love to do a private function here some time as it is nice and cosy. It is slightly loud though for the amount of people that were in there as I had trouble hearing on my phone.

Phamish

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Wed, 15th Apr 2015 (8)

Found this place as it was the closest to Palais theatre to see a show. Pizzas are a bargain for $12 & it was very filling with a variety of toppings. You are even able to choose your own! Only thing was mine was slightly doughy as was not in the oven for long enough. Saying that, we were all barely able to finish it due to the generous serving. The meatballs was so, so but my friend loved it especially the pesto & other person devoured the burger which was massive also. There are also some drink specials before 6pm which are worth going for when in St Kilda.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 7th Apr 2015 (8)

Unsure why it takes so long ot get our food every time we come here for lunch. Saying that, the pasta and pizza days are bargains & the food is always delish. They have a prawn spaghetti now with cherry tomatoes and the spring lamb ragu is great. Never disappoints but service can be quicker.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 10th Mar 2015 (9)

Pork belly & wagyu shin is always a must when you visit Seamstress. The confit duck on betal leaf was delicious. The soft shell crab with chili sauce is also divine but I would skip the bay bug gyoza w prawns next time was it was just average & maybe a tad salty (the prawns/dipping sauce). Bit disappointed that the wine we wanted wasn't available but the service was good.

Caffe E Cucina

South Yarra

Deborah dined on Wed, 28th Jan 2015 (8)

The freshly baked bread was lovely, warm & delicious. Seafood linguine was quite nice but probably needed a bit more spice & the lamb rack was cooked perfectly. I did find there was soo much balsamic on the plate but that is maybe because I accidentally got some on my top =/

Little Nyonya Australia

Docklands

Deborah dined on Wed, 21st Jan 2015 (9)

Ordered a yong tao fu laksa, crispy noodles with chicken/seafood & a char kuay teow. The laksa was delicious even in an extremely hot day & the char kuay teow was the standout as it was perfectly smokey with prawns & calamari. The crispy noodles were so so & we completed the meal with some coconut drinks.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Tue, 23rd Dec 2014 (9)

Went for lunch with 8 people and was seated for a while before they took our orders. Always extremely busy here as the food is divine. $12 pasta specials were great with the lamb orecchiette being the best dish of the day. The others enjoyed the pappardelle w wagyu bolognese, lasagne or the classic margherita. Service was a bit slow but the food was delicious and everyone was very impressed. My italian colleague said it was one of the best pizzaz he's ever had!

Society Restaurant & Bar

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 10th Dec 2014 (9)

We ordered the linguine pescatore and the lamb rack. The seafood was plentiful and cooked perfectly with prawns, scallops and calamari - simple yet extremely tasty. The lamb was done very well also and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We opted to order dessert instead of entrees and shared the coffee creme brulee and the ice cream sandwich. Both were quite nice and would higly recommend.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Mon, 17th Nov 2014 (8)

Pizzas were quite delicious but unable to tell what the toppings are on the menu. Had the white truffle cream, mushrooms and parmasan. Was very filling and definitely hit the spot whilst my friend enjoyed his margherita.

A25 Docklands

Docklands

Deborah dined on Mon, 27th Oct 2014 (6)

Arrived a tad after my booking time of 12pm. When my friend arrived at 12.17 we promptly ordered however, did not receive our pizza unil 1pm! Given we only had two orders, I unsure why it took so long whereas other tables 4 - 10+ people received their meals before us. We were starving & no one came to apologise or check the kitchen for us. Well maybe they did but there was no explanaton as to why we were waiting for 40 minutes. The gamberi was so so as there were small prawns on it with a lot of broken pieces including the tails with shell on which is annoyed to eat on a pizza. The Bunga Bunga was okay I suppose but certainly not worth such a long wait. A bit disappointed that the chili oil on the table had no spice in it whatsoever as well.

Nine Elephants

Docklands

Deborah dined on Fri, 24th Oct 2014 (9)

Ordered the soft shell crab on crunchy noodles (noodles weren't crunchy) but the crab was yum with a spicy sauce. Shared a green curry with chicken which was delicious and a pad see ew which was extremely tasty with beef.

Bucatini

Mitcham

Deborah dined on Wed, 15th Oct 2014 (9)

Ordered the gnocchi which was delish as it was light & fluffy. Partner had the rib eye which was very tender but unfortunately, not enough sauce. The steamed veggies was surprisingly tasty as I put it down to the buttery goodness that was on the cauliflower, spinach, carrot, zuchinni and brocolli. Tried a glass of the house red which was nice. Overall, a very enjoyable meal although had expected the menu to be mostly italian.

Italian Pomodoro Sardo

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Mon, 13th Oct 2014 (9)

Gor to the restaurant on time but took some time before we got served. Wouldn't have minded the waiting if we had some bread & olive oil. We ordered the lamb cutlets & seafood linguine to share. The linguine was amazing, delicious with big prawns, mussells, clams & some fish. The lamb cutlets were a bit disappointing as the portion seemed quite small & it just tasted average with some mash on the side. The tiramasu was quite yummy & the red wine (on specials menu) was nice again. The menu was great so would definitely come back to try a different pasta or pizza. The food did take a long to arrive as well & other tables were getting served when they had arrived after us.

The Strand Restaurant

Williamstown

Deborah dined on Wed, 8th Oct 2014 (9)

Took a friend here for his birthday & we were seated on the deck. The wine list is extensive and we ordered a nice French red. The lamb shoulder was amazing with the sauce also the cauliflower couscous w pinenuts were a nice touch & the eye fillet was really tender. I had a creme brulee with ice cream which was just as yummy. I did, however bite on a nutshell when I dipped my bread into the seed mix and found I had to ask for water to be refilled as there appeared to be only one person on the floor. The views and atmosphere are lovely and delicious food so would definitely go back!

Rare Midtown (Goldie Pl)

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Mon, 11th Aug 2014 (10)

We shared the baked herb mushrooms and the 400g premium eye fillet. The mushrooms were great with fetta on top & the steak was perfectly cooked. Tried a recommended cabernet which was nice & a side salad. Would definitely come back!

Bomba

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 18th Jul 2014 (7)

Ordered the croquettes, scallops and lamb cutlet. The scallops were delicious & croquettes never fail to disappoint but the lamb was average. The rump was chewy and the freekah cauliflower salad had too much lemon zest or juice. The pork jowl was and always is the best dish. We did eat some eggplant chips upstairs which were good with a capsicum dipping sauce. It was a bit noisy at times & we couldn't hear each other properly.

Wabi Sabi Garden

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Fri, 28th Mar 2014 (6)

We ordered the spicy squid strips which were great. The kingfish sashimi was melt in your mouth but the hapuka one was a bit chewy. I chose it bc of the sauce & the chili lime dressing was delicious. The wagyu roll was soooo yum. The only let down was waiting really long for the pork belly & wasn't fan of the sauce was it was a bit too sweet for me although the pork was perfectly cooked. We also did share the plum wine selection which was just right for 2 people.

Bomba

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 27th Nov 2013 (10)

We ordered the chicken manchego croquette, fried peppers & scallops which were all amazing. Then we shared the king prawn pil pil & braised pork jowl w a side of patatas bravas - also very yum! Only disappointment was the portugese tart was it didn't have enough crunch w the pastry. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu items.

Steer Dining Room

South Yarra

Deborah dined on Mon, 7th Oct 2013 (8)

We started with the scallop ceviche starter which was quite yum. Enjoyed the $39 pre-theatre special as had dinner at 6pm. Steak was a bit overcooked for my scotch fillet but perfect for my friend's oyster blade accompanied with onion rings & broccolini. There's so many condiments to choose from!

RST Seafood Restaurant (Richmond Seafood Tavern)

Fitzroy North

Deborah dined on Wed, 28th Aug 2013 (9)

We did go for the $60 set menu & because we had the Dimmi 50% special, it didn't end up costing that much. So much food & everything was delicious. Started with the crab bruschetta, oysters & prawns, then came the chili prawns, scallops & fried bug tails THEN we had grilled snapper, croquettes & fried calamari. It was definitely a feast & even came with a side of wedges & salad as well. We accompanied all the succulent seafood with a lovely bottle of white & dessert we tried the peanut butter choc mousse with coconut creme brulee - yummo!

Scugnizzo

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 2nd Aug 2013 (9)

We ordered pizza for entree between 2 people & mains which were a tad too much. I love how the chef comes out & checks that each table are happy with their food. I was disappointed that the special on the board wasn't available & when I asked the waiter, he simply replied that's why he was telling me about a different one earlier. Made me feel like it was my fault I had missed it or wasn't listening. Besides that incident the food (& the other waiter) was great! We had the Scugnizzo pizza, the rib eye + brocolli/potato mash & the risotto w smoked prawns. The rib eye was delicious with a mustard sauce & the risotto had a really smokey flavour which my partner loved.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 17th Jul 2013 (9)

The scallops were again wonderful same as the pork belly, eye fillet & soft shell crab. Probably wouldn't try the quail again & order a curry seeing everyone else does. The desserts were great! We had the fig pudding & also the mango sorbet w creme pot. We actually prefer this place to Chin Chin.

Seamstress Restaurant

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Mon, 8th Jul 2013 (9)

The soft shell crab, scallops & eye fillet were delicious. I found the oysters to be a tad salty so prob wouldn't order that again. The trout was ok with unique flavours & the pork belly was divine. I would need to order less dishes next time for two of us so we can fit in dessert as there are plenty of yummy options there also.

Saint Peter's Trattoria

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 26th Jun 2013 (8)

Reading comments from Urbanspoon, they all said similar things - the food was great but small servings & the service was not good. I agree that the food has always been delicious the 3 times I have visited & the service varies. I think the portion sizes are perfect & it's just people are used to larger dishes. I think when they get packed, the service standard does start to drop as there is a long wait between dishes & the staff tend to get slightly agro when it gets too busy. We had the lobster degustation which my friend & I both loved. Bonus are the BYO nights also but pity I'm doing a no-alcohol bet atm.

Saint Peter's Trattoria

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 16th Apr 2013 (10)

Stopped by for a quick dinner before a comedy show last night with some work people. The service was great & the food was even better! I ordered the balmain bugs tagliatelle w chili & white wine sauce which was delicious. Others had the prawn tortellini and lasagne which were both highly recommended. The pinot gris we had was good also so will definitely be coming back to try out the the rest of the menu. Bonus is that they have BYO for wine.

Punch Lane

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Thu, 28th Mar 2013 (9)

Great food! Ordered the beef sirloin which was perfectly cooked & the duck breast which were both delicious. Had the lime cured king fish for entree which was a tad pricey at $24 but nevertheless quite yummy. Dessert we had the mint & choc ganache with vanilla ice cream which was also very good. A huge wine list as well so would definitely come back.

Sugarreef

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Wed, 27th Mar 2013 (6)

Ordered as soon as I arrived as told the waiter I had to leave within the hour to make it to a comedy show. He advised that certain dishes such as fish (depending on size) or lamb would take approx 20mins. It actually took 35mins which then left about 10mins to eat. The barramundi was delicious with great flavours but the miso didn't quite taste like miso. The oven baked snapper was slightly dry but the servings were generous. I would go back again when I have time to enjoy my meal.

La Citta

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Tue, 12th Mar 2013 (10)

We shared the Squid ink Pappardelle with king prawns and cherry tomato & Lamb shoulder slow roasted with skorthalia and green beans. The pasta was great w/ some nice flavours & decent sized prawns & the lamb was very tender which fell off the bone & matched perfectly with the skorthalia. We also shared a cheese platter & the lavosh was great! Overall, a very enjoyable meal.

Il Nostro Posto

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Fri, 14th Dec 2012 (8)

Unsure why we had to ask for bread but the seafood linguine & seafood soup (both baked in the oven) were great.

Portello Rosso

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 5th Dec 2012 (8)

The tables were a bit too close together & it was quite loud to hear a conversation. I found some of the individual tapas items were quite pricey also at approx $8 for a piece of prawn, lamb skewer or pork belly. The service & food were great though.

Mezzo

Melbourne CBD

Deborah dined on Wed, 4th Jul 2012 (9)

Love the oyster hour which is 5pm-6.30 everyday. Just didn't get given the choice which oysters we wanted or advised which ones they had available on this occasion. Also, our waiter neglected to tell us about the specials with the fish & soup of the day. Just realised when overheard a different waiter telling a table near us. Ordered half dozen natural oysters & half crumbed ones with half steamed with tomato/bacon. The smaller type of natural ones were quite mild which I found really bland as did not have the oyster flavour. The larger ones were much better & I prefered the steamed oysters over the crumbed ones. For mains I ordered the pork belly & my boyfriend ordered the 400g rib eye. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender & pink in the middle. Even the chips were really flavorsome. The pork belly, however, was a bit overdone. It had the crunchy crackling but instead of being golden brown, it had gone a bit black so seemed burnt. It was a disappointment as that ruined the perfect dish. I note the pre-theatre menu was quite appealing and would go back to try that sometime. Towards the end when the waiter was refilling our water, there was quite bad odour which lingered. I'm not sure if he noticed but if I had still been eating, I would have been turned off my food.

Cosi Bar Ristorante

South Yarra

Deborah dined on Thu, 28th Jun 2012 (10)

Took my friend here for her birthday as I absolutely love this place. The food never disappoints & the service is excellent. My friend ordered the fish of the day which was trout & that was quite yummy. I ordered the lamb on this occasion as always end up getting the steak previously. The lamb was delicious & plentiful, very tender with lovely flavor. I have yet to come back & try the pasta they have to offer but definitely have to try next time.

Sapore

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Sat, 16th Jun 2012 (10)

The beef carpaccio was with white anchovies, parmesan & crunchy breadcrumb bits was fantastic. I had the fish of the day which was a barramundi fillet which had a crispy skin & Dan had the pork belly which he also loved with the perfect cracking. Staff were very attentive as usual. Still haven't had a chance to come back for the set menu Mon - Tues.

Mercato @ Daylesford

Arrived on a freezing evening & saw sign next to door that restaurant was fully booked for the night. The service was good but the tables were just seated a bit too close to each other so it was quite loud & you could hear other people's conversations. Ordered the pork belly entree to share which had a nice flavour, but just disappointed that there wasn't a crunch to it. I had lamb with babaganoosh with a minted yoghurt which was delicious & a generous serving. My boyfriend had the duck with also had a duck ravioli. The duck was really tender but the duck in the ravioli was as bit bland & dry. So much so that he asked me what it actually was in the ravioli & tried to find the salt. Dessert we tried the 3 assorted sorbet which was green apple, strawberry & raspberry together & kumquat. The green apple was a bit too sweet, the strawberry/raspberry tasted the best & the kumquat had a bitter aftertaste which my boyfriend didn't mind. Overall, for the price you do expect that everything to be perfect so that was the only let down.

Arrived slightly early & spoke with manager about having drinks, perhaps ordering at bar so when table was ready food will be done as well as table was going to be ready 8.15/8.30. Had trouble communicating to the bar staff who said can't guarantee when food will be cooked by & if came before table was ready then will have to eat at bar. Went back to manager who advised table was ready so unsure why there was a fuss when they could have just spoke with him. Otherwise, service at the table was fine. Steaks were cooked medium rare but the cuts (scotch fillet & flat iron steak) were a bit chewy. Sauce & chips were lovely, however the salad was a bit salty.

Have always had great food & service every time I have been here. It was fairly packed so glad a booking was made & this was early Wednesday night. Ordered the scotch fillet which was perfectly cooked & the pork belly was delicious - lovely crunch on the crackling!

A lot of business meetings were being held around me so this was definitely a place to take your clients to if you had wanted to impress. The duck was delicious however the scotch fillet was average. Service was great & I will certainly be coming back to try other things on the menu.

St Kilda

Deborah dined on Thu, 19th Apr 2012 (10)

Great location in St Kilda along Fitzroy Street with alfresco dining available. Big variety on menu choices which means I will be definitely be coming back to try the seafood linguine or crab spaghetti. We ordered the scotch fillet (off the Specials), osso bucco, duck & also an eye fillet. Steaks were cooked perfectly, however the veal & duck were slightly fatty. Unfortunately, didn't even get time to look at the dessert menu as needed to rush off to a Comedy Show. Service was really good.. except we didn't get the dessert menu quick enough after we had finished our meals. There's a 3 course special with a glass of wine for $45 Sun - Tues which we are all really keen to come back & try.

Service was great as told the waitress we were in a hurry to see a Comedy Show. Ordered straight away & the food took another 20mins. The rib eye was tender as was cooked perfectly & the salmon melted in your mouth with crispy skin. Only thing was the chips for the steak was really crunchy but got a bit soggy in the sauce so perhaps should have been separated. Would definitely recommend & come back again.

Service is great as usual. A big fan of the seafood degustation platter which I always end up sharing. It's easy to find parking & a romantic setting or simple a cosy place for small get together.

Service was great, food was delicious. Just a weird location for the restaurant as it's under the staircase & off to the side of a busy bar. Because the place is quite small, the tables are seated a little too close together.

Food was great but it did take a while to get served whilst there wasn't many people at the restaurant. The stool was a bit uncomfortable but there was a great table outside in the courtyard - too bad it was a rainy/stormy day!
