Lord Cardigan Restaurant

Entrees were delicious with many complicated flavours and well presented. Mains were small and side dishes were needed. Service was very good.

Good decor in a converted house on Kew HIgh Street. Food was well executed. Only gripe is that you have to pay for bread. This must be one of only a few fine dining restaurants that charge for bread and EVOO (extra virgin olive oil). The main dishes won't fill you up, you have to order side dishes too.

The tapas plates are very small and very expensive. The desserts are much better sizes. Food was lacking some wow factor for the price. It was like food you could prepare at home.

Kobe Jones Melbourne

This is fine dining Japanese and not a cheap sushi joint. Comfortable chairs in the dining room as there is a teppan room on the other side. The service was super friendly and not pushy. The sashimi was thickly sliced and generous, as I have recently been to restaurants charging a similar price, where they cut the scallops in half and slice everything thinly to make it look like more food! The quality of the desserts did not match the starters and mains.

Lovely, tasty dishes. Black squid ink dish was very well executed. Good wine list. Friendly service.

Caffe E Cucina

South Yarra

Il cibo e molto authentico. Pasta era al dente. Servizio buono. Si mangia bene qui.:)

The Grand Dining Room

Hard wooden chairs with no padding are not very comfortable for a long meal. Fine dining with expensive prices attached. Generally a good meal, but spoiled by some short cuts which should never happen at such an establishment. The scallops had been cut in half! A main prawn dish contained 2 prawns cut into 5 pieces!

The Vincent

Albert Park

Great Monday night steak options. Good family atmosphere with many locals dining with their children. Get there at 6pm for faster food because it gets very busy and you can wait half an hour for food. Wish the chips weren't frozen.

Punch Lane

Tiny portions. Pork loin and pork belly was dry and tasteless. $20 wine by the bottle in a shop, selling for $13 a glass. Hapuka fillet was well cooked and tasty. You will leave hungry after an entree and a main each and $135 lighter.

Small portions. Left hungry. Not the variety of sashimi I would expect for a restaurant charging so much. Too much of the cheap fish, that is salmon, red tuna, no tuna belly, salmon roe etc. Every piece of sashimi was tiny and thinly sliced. Love the fact you can BYO for $7.50 pp. But won't be coming back. Amex welcome but surcharge applied which is also a negative.

POW Kitchen

St Kilda

Christina dined on Sat, 27th May 2017 (5)

The food was too salty and bland. The rice noodles came out brown they were so smothered in soy sauce and wok blasted. The green papaya salad had a really vinegary taste, but had a good kick to it. The massaman curry was just salty and had a hint of clove. The korean style beef tartare was neither hot or tasty. The kingfish collar was covered in a deep fried crust of garlic and finished with sweet chilli sauce. The wines were barely drinkable. Sorry. Was expecting much more because the menu sounded so exciting.
