We ate pretty light - just one main each. Mains are around $18-$25, depending. This isn't cheap for Thai but Charmed does stand out in the local sphere for their better quality (in my mind). Our meals: duck in plum sauce and softshell crab in a kind of curry (I think). Both were really tasty - seemed very fresh - and had that right balance of heat and spice. As ever, service was really good. We brought a wine with us and were continually topped up through the evening. Overall: Food: great quality, tasty, happy (8/10)* Ambiance: fair, best they can do on the main road (8/10) Service: excellent (9/10) Price/Value: expensive end of Thai but worth it for the quality (8/10) *note: I have not travelled through Thailand, so not sure of authenticity, but it seemed pretty good to me. Will be back!

I've been to The Sawmill a few times now. This one was a nice dinner with a mate. We shared an entree, had mains each, shared a dessert, and had a few glasses of wine - about $140 in total. It's lovely and the staff are very attentive - maybe a little too attentive early in the night, then finding the balance. The food is good - top end of good quality but, occasionally, lacks that 'next level' in flavour. The wine selection is great - I've never had a bad wine at The Sawmill and their staff knowledge is great. Ambiance is good as a local gem. I'd love it to have a romantic nook (for when I'm dining with my wife) but still good. Regardless, it's great and I'll be back... a fair bit.

Different delicious food, took us back to a holiday we had in Istanbul. Service was a bit slack initially but then was excellent. Was quite a lot of noise from an adjacent table in another restaurant

As ever, I love The Botanist. If only there was something like it nearer to home, I could be a total regular. As it stands, I'm an occasional enthusiast. The venue is awesome, swimming in ambiance. The service is excellent - maybe a little too thorough for some but our host was awesome. The speed of food delivery was perfect. The quality of food was excellent - between two, we had two mains and two 'starters' (the sliders rock, as do the soft-shell crab rolls). The boutique beers were fantastic. The only thing I'd love improved is the wine range but I'm happy to stick with great beer and cider, so no drama. Thank you The Botanist!

We had a nice family meal at Lan Yuan. The service is good and the venue is nice. We liked everything but it just wasn't the same standard, in our minds, as some of the dumpling places in Chatswood, for example. However, the prices are pretty high. Overall happy and we'll most likely be back for occasional family visits.

The food was OK but it is pretty expensive. And it was a pretty strange ambience. Probably won't go back to the St Ives branch but might try Top Ryde to see if it is any better.

We came as a group of 4 and had a really good night out. The service and staff was excellent - very French and lovely. The food was great - really nice quality, tasty, well-presented, and great portions. We went for a middle-of-the-pack wine and that wasn't great - a little over-priced for the quality but OK. Ambiance is lovely too. Definitely recommend and definitely will return!

Yummy food, pretty good service but we seemed to wait a while for dessert

Nice place for a quiet or chatty dinner. Caught up with a good mate. We enjoyed a well-selected Shiraz. Food was great - well-balanced and good quality. I'd love the pizza bases to be slightly more cooked on the bottom (a little soggy) but otherwise delicious. Beautiful creme brûlée for dessert. Staff are delightful - just attentive enough (without being intrusive) and, generally, warm and professional.

This was just a "men's dinner" - couple of blokes catching up. It was a little taste of Italy and a nice place to chat over a decent wine and quality meal. Overall: Ambiance: excellent - chilled atmosphere, maybe a little noisy from acoustics but not bad Service: excellent - great quality wait staff had answers to all our questions and were both professional yet warmly casual. Food: very good - we shared a duck ragu and a meaty pizza (can't recall the name but Italian sausage and charcuterie-type mix), then the zeppoli (dough balls) and banana split for dessert. Ragu was excellent, pizza was good (felt it needed seasoning), zeppoli were tasty but really a share between 3 size plate!, and the banana split was tasty. Oh, the wines were delicious too. Neither of us know anything about Italian wines but the sommelier helped a treat and we really enjoyed it. A great little spot and a lovely night out.

Possibly the best meal we've ever had. Absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic. The only downside was that we couldn't see the view because it was dark! Just means we'll have to return. Overall it was more expensive than we would usually spend for a night out but it was absolutely worth it. Plus we had vouchers to use!

Excellent service, as always. Really enjoyed the Duck Special and the Pad Thai with Soft-shelled Crab. Great place for a chilled, tasty meal.

Beautiful setting for a very special occasion. It was more than we have ever spent on a meal but it was very special and memorable.

Perfect place to share a few drinks and a few bites - takes me back to the funky gastro-pub scene of London. Great service - the team know their beers and are constantly attentive and friendly. Happy with everything we ordered: tacos, pizza, salad. Love it! I wish there were more like The Botanist.

Delicious food. Great for pre theatre

The food is really fresh and tasty. No bold flavours (which works for a general group but could be stronger for those who love spices). Really enjoyed the pork belly, steamed dumplings, and squid. The team on service were very attentive and efficient - constantly doing circuits of the restaurant (pretty busy for a Tue night), checking for needs. Really good value for money - we ordered 5 mains shared between 5 people and that was plenty.

Delicious food and really friendly staff. A bit more pricey than a usual Chinese restaurant but a bit more classy and food was amazing

We had a good, but not great, meal. Steak was expensive for size and quality (small and fair). Selection of sides is limited. Atmosphere seems confused. Maybe it feels fresher in summer? Overall, it's nice but not worth a premium.

A wonderful meal, as ever. We really enjoyed sitting outside in the sun, just taking a leisurely lunch. Service was pretty good. Meals were tasty, as always.

It was our first time at SPN. We really enjoyed ourselves - a lovely meal. We felt the menu and ambiance were slightly mismatched but it was really chilled and fantastic quality - loved it.
Stuart dined on Tue, 19th Apr 2016 (6)
Food was tasty but lacked finery (re. sides and desserts) - good quality steaks, cooked nicely. Service was OK - neither attentive nor intrusive but certainly not polished (limited experience of drinks menu). Atmosphere lacks the charm of a boutique steak restaurant or the panache of a fancy restaurant. Price seemed reasonable for the inclusions etc and drinks very reasonable too.
Stuart dined on Fri, 4th Mar 2016 (7)
The service was excellent - our wait staff was ever diligent and knowledgeable. We loved several courses but also felt our starters just lacked something - good but not memorable. It's a great venue for views but, unfortunately, we were seated in a spot where one had to look at the bar all night while the other had a decent view. Aim for outdoors if you can! Overall, it was good but, for the price, we're looking for excellent.

Great place to sample lobster. Nice team - very welcoming. Really enjoyed our meal. Good array of alcohol too. Priced reasonably for the good quality product.

Loved the high-quality, diverse Japanese meal. Wallaby carpaccio was lovely. Teppanyaki prawns were delicious. The softshell crab sushi was all about the crab (not the rice). We had a great meal and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The quality was excellent. Price-wise, very reasonable.

Excellent service - wait staff couldn't do enough to help. Good quality food and decent portions. Excellent wine list. Prices so-so. Atmosphere a bit noisy but certainly happening. Enjoyed it.

My wife and I enjoyed The Reef for an evening out, without kids! Overall, it was very nice, particularly our Barramundi mains. Desserts were good (not perfection). The wine list was good. We were really fortunate to enjoy a window seat, taking in the lovely sea and beach views over Terrigal.
