The food is fantastic. I’d go before 7pm to take advantage of the $7 tapas and drinks special though. Ordering off the menu otherwise is a bit exxy. I mean the food is awesome but still overpriced. Having to get up 3 times to order tapas at ‘the food counter/service window’ is also super annoying. If you go, try the Baja fish tacos. To die for. The cauliflower is also divine 👌
Lydia dined on Fri, 27th Oct 2017 (8)
Portions are far too small for what they charge. Desserts were very good. Service was friendly but inconsistent. Atmosphere is fabulous in there. I think to be competitive you need to lower your prices a tad. Some of your tiny share plates cost the same or more than a main dish and you portions are not fit for sharing!
Lydia dined on Tue, 17th Oct 2017 (9)
Service was very attentive. Food was excellent but the dessert was AWFUL. Premade frozen “cheesefake” with a sad attempt at modern playing up ($15). Gross. Definitely go for dinner- the food was lovely but just stay clear if dessert! 😜
Lydia dined on Sun, 15th Oct 2017 (10)
As always, a good spread. Not extensive but value and freshness guaranteed. Finally after 5 years or more, they FINALLY do what I’ve been asking all along...offered 1 cheese knife per cheese to avoid cross contamination. Alleluia! Thanks guys. Also...when staff refill the prawns, can they please use gloves. That looked really unhygienic and gross. I know prawns get shelled but touching food with bare hands is never a good look!! Soup was awesome- cream of parsnip. Salads are lovely. Coffee included. We come here often. 10/10 xx

Good food. I’ll be back.
Lydia dined on Fri, 6th Oct 2017 (10)
Fabulous food. Wasn’t expecting that. I thought that the cocktail price list was through the roof...$19? For a mixed drink..? Where do you get off? And your flip board paper menu has such limited space and offerings, that you and waste the lines on a $900 bottle of wine? Same with your wine list. Only one or two offered by the glass, otherwise you have to buy the bottle- at over 3 times he bottleshop price?? It’s reeks of RIP OFF. No wonder I was expecting morsels of good to come out. Luckily your wise choice was in choosing the right chef. Keep your staff and get rid of your pompous attitude and price list. This is Perth. You’ll go down in 24 seconds like that.

OMG I’m so coming back here to try everything! Please try this place. So much effort put into every dish. Indigenous ingredients which add fabulous points of difference. Attention to detail from staff and business owners who are also customer facing. And all very modestly priced. Try the duck parfait -a religious experience!! The baked Camembert was also divine. You just need to try this place!!! Do it. DO IT!!! xx
Lydia dined on Sun, 17th Sep 2017 (9)
The Food was excellent despite getting weird feeling upon walking in. The place was cold, atmosphere lacking, music too loud and the actual menu was annoying to follow. Pages flipping backwards and forwards....there doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from...the first thing on the menu is 'burritos'...but wait. They're only available on Thursdays. Wtf??? Just take it off the menu guys!!!! There's no advertising of live music they have on Wednesdays....and the venue is hidden begin scaffolding and construction at the moment so bookings should explain this. Furthermore...calling for directions 10 mins before our booking, only to get the answering machine is really a bad look...especially since all staff were doing nothing when I found the place and walked in. All in all, do try it as the food is remarkable to be honest but geez...this place will go down in a heartbeat if management doesn't pull its head out.

I'm Italian and I'm a chef. I can't fault this place. In fact, I've been back twice in 3 weeks. Must haves: The Crespelle for entree and pistachio dessert. Please check this place out. You sooooo won't be disappointed!!!

Just lovely. We will definitely return. Attention to detail. Lovely flavours, and fairly priced. Thank you!!

Wowzers! Waiter really knew his schnizzle and the food was full of flavour. Loved it ❤️
Lydia dined on Wed, 14th Jun 2017 (6)
Great venue, but geez...expensive menu! I went here to specifically order the Ribs as I felt they'd know how to master some good ol' American rib recipe. The sauce was very very good. The Rob's were not 'fall off the bone' and not even close. Sadness set in and tears trickled down my cheeks. The pork was cooked, not tough...but more like roasted meat on the bone rather than a succulent, fleshy pork rib. Yikes. However, the staff were super friendly and the place had a great vibe to it.
Lydia dined on Mon, 12th Jun 2017 (9)
Great place for large tables. Wholesome food. Good flavours. We come here regularly.
Lydia dined on Thu, 18th May 2017 (7)
Oh look...it was 'okayyyyy'. Quite small portions. I mean...about 1 coffee cup of mac 'n cheese for $9..?? Really?? 5 pork ribs for $17? The battered chips were yummy though and they're trying hard. Being served food on a paper sheet over a rectangle tray with food miles apart from each other was also a bit OCD WEIRD. Has potential. Go for the fries.
Lydia dined on Fri, 5th May 2017 (10)
WOW. Best baked cheesecake I have EVER tasted I my life. Like seriously. Literally. This is my 'cheesecake fix' place now. Everything about this place was fabulous. A cool concept. Fresh. Interesting menu. Yummy sodas! Decadent desert. Try the Knickerbocker Glory too for a huge treat! I'll be back 100%. My only constructive feedback would be to offer your coffee at a fixed price as well as the bottomless cup! Your $5 bottomless filtered coffee ("with meals only") works great, but what happens when you're only coming in for cheesecake and coffee???? Cheesecake is a meal for me (!) but I doubt you'd offer a bottomless cup with desert as well. If so- a note either way on your menu would be helpful 👍 I'm glad you're here, Rockefeller!! 💕💕💕
Lydia dined on Tue, 2nd May 2017 (10)
Fresh, good portions, attentive and friendly service and lovely flavours. To me it had quite a bit of msg in it (I'm sensitive to it and it made me super thirsty!!) so ask first if you have allergies. Other than that, a lovely meal!
Lydia dined on Mon, 1st May 2017 (9)
Positives: staff tried very hard! Friendly service appreciated. Lovely refurbished premises. Great sized drinks. Good wine list and reasonably priced. Negatives: Staff didn't seem to understand the flow of orders & kitchen flow. It took at least 15 mins before we had to eventually ask for drinks. They came and still hadn't ordered starters. When we got their attention to order, it them took 15-20 mins to come out. Starters had been and gone and they still hadn't taken our mains. Just a bit not right. Having said that, they did try and the service was friendly. The food was lovely. Calamari excellent. Dips generous with ample flat bread. Lovely flavours all round. Despite awkward service, I'll be back because they're focus was on doing the right thing and the food was lovely. Keep going guys!! 👍

Worst experience for as long as I can remember. I booked a table for FIFTEEN family and friends for my birthday- 3 weeks in advance. Less than 2 hours before we were set to show up I get a call from the manager asking if I knew that The Spruce Goose was a tapas bar. I say yes, I know...we will have tapas for starters and each have a main dish as your menu has mains (right?) He says he has lounges and that the restaurant is..."unique". I say I see photos of tables and chairs online and your menu offers main course meals, so...we would like to sit down to eat. He says..."yes, people eat their mains on the couches. They're VERY comfortable!" I say...what, steak? You e got steak on the menu and it's around $36 or $39 and people eat steak...how-?" He says on THEIR LAP. I'm like...dude. I don't think so. You call me NOW to tell me this? Like you didn't notice you had a booking for 15 people til NOW?? I ask if he can put tables together to COMFORTABLY sit 15. I define COMFORTABLY as being not shoved in a weird corner...not having to say "Scuse me! Scuse me! Scuse me!" to get around people...no chairs backed up against a wall- that kinda thing. He says he'll see what he can do and confirms 15 minutes later he did it! We had our table. Well Well. Welllll it was ridiculous. Shoved in a L-corner with bench seats there were toilet breaks throughout the night. On the other side were lounge chairs- NOT dining chairs! 1 staff member ONLY on ALL night and he was working the bar. The manager LITERALLY sat on his iPhone ALL NIGHT on a lounge chair on the sidewalk. Literally. We had no table service of any kind. Had to ask literally, for everything. Napkins asked. Water- asked. Replacement water. Asked. Got the guys attention when we were ready to order. Like every single time. It was crap. Our meals came out at all different times. My daughters meal came out after everyone had finished their mains! Oh! And get this!! They don't serve coffee!!! WTH?? 😳 My main was Fish of the Day. The waiter didn't know what it was. He asks the chef. Comes back. It's Barramundi. I ask if it's Australian or imported. He checks. It's Australian (I'm surprised 👌) but get this...it wasn't even barramundi! It was Ling fish or a delicate thin white fillet. 3 tiny squares stacked on top of each other. Everything else on the plate was not even on the menu! No fennel purre...different sauce. Some weird ass toasted coconut on top which didn't even go with the flavour profile (?) and the veg couldn't decide if they were supposed to be raw or wayyy undercooked. Basically they were raw, dropped in boiling water for 25 seconds. Gross. No flavour. The people who ordered pork got no crackle (as expected on the menu!!) The pork was dry. The steak was grisly and tough. For scotch, well they bought budget meat. The ju (sauce) was made from drippings of roasts other than just beef. I could taste lamb in it too and that was shockingly awful. You just don't do that! (I'm a chef btw). The pasta used in the pumpkin caneloni was under cooked. Just all round terrible food. Terrible experience. I booked here with a Dimmi 50% off food voucher and guess what? I STILL feel I got ripped off. We spent $400 on drinks and that's the only thing they could do (had to keep reminding them of missed drink orders though 🙄🙄🙄). Me personally and my group? They were politely quiet when I asked if they enjoyed their meal. They all looked at me with 'warning eyes'. What does that tell you? I asked the one and only staff member to have the manager call me the next day...Do you think he did?? Nope! Terrible terrible service. Listen closely: I. WILL. NOT. BE. BACK. EVERRRRRRRR.
Lydia dined on Tue, 11th Apr 2017 (9)
The service here was warm and friendly. I didn't care for my dish. It that may have been a matter of taste. I also had fried ice ream and coffee for dessert and that was very good. The icecream was played up with a Rose and I thought that was lovely and shows effort. I'd try this place to show support for a local venue.
Lydia dined on Sat, 1st Apr 2017 (10)
Lovely fresh and generous portions which is why we come back time and time again! Thanks staff. Good job 👍👍👍
Lydia dined on Mon, 20th Mar 2017 (2)
Croquettes and whiting fillets came out burned. Dark brown crumbs with black (burned) parsley. As a chef, I'd never put food out like that. It would've tasted ok besides that but sorry. That's a deal breaker in this industry. I won't ever be back.
Lydia dined on Sat, 18th Mar 2017 (10)
Really lovely decor, friendly service and fresh food. We'll be back! :)
Lydia dined on Fri, 17th Mar 2017 (7)
The food was well prepared and delicious. The prices-fair for what you get (so to speak)...but the very noisy and uncomfortable surroundings make it feel more like a busy cafeteria (and prices should reflect THIS) rather than restaurant prices for lovely food...but in an atmosphere not comparable to what else is on offer. Service was friendly.
Lydia dined on Wed, 15th Mar 2017 (4)
$32 for 8 slices of octopus legs (4cm x 2.5cm each)...each piece was an octopus tentacle sliced lengthwise into 3...so we're talking minuscule size here. I had to ask the waiter if he ordered the ($32) large entree size or the ($19) small. It was the large. "Would you like to speak to the manager?" "Yeahhh....No. It's ok thank you." $32 for less than 60gr of octopus? Please. I'm in the catering industry and I know we all like to make a profit but that is just, diabolically, an absolute...rip off. Never coming back.
Lydia dined on Mon, 13th Mar 2017 (10)
Lovely as always. Once you order though, you tend to be forgotten. The service once the food's come out is literally non-existent! Still...the food is very good and it's still our trusty local! Just don't expect to be waited upon. Table service is as dodgey as a vindaloo 😜
Lydia dined on Sun, 5th Mar 2017 (10)
We decided tonight that this restaurant would be our local Indian as we'll be moving close by soon. Really lovely food as always. We come here fairly often.
Lydia dined on Sun, 5th Feb 2017 (8)
I come here regularly and I've always left outstanding reviews although at this time, I can't. In brief, we booked and arrived at 6pm for the buffet. I asked what was on offer on the live cooking station and was told they weren't offering it tonight, despite your website and all ads in front of the restaurant and in the elevators advertise a live cooking station. So- really irritated that you feel you can just cancel a major component of the buffet without any forewarning, or apology, or compensation. Then...I wait for someone to serve the roast at the carvery-no one is there. I enquire, and am told a chef will arrive soon. It was past opening time. I waited until 6:25pm and had to ask a second time. All that roasted meat had not been served at all until someone came out at 6:25pm. I just think that's not right. Thirdly, the (only blue and white) lolly Bar is absolutely unacceptable. It's exposed to the air so all the marshmallows were crusty, the blue cloud lollies had sugars broken down (liquidified and stuck together) and there were (seriously) fruit fly looking insects well inside the glass bowls of jelly beans etc. The lolly bar to me is advertised to attract custom, but none of the selections are actually appetizing or edible. A whole section missed-poor value. Fourthly, your coffee machine requires calibration. It only produces a little more than a 1/2 filled cup. It also makes quite a dark coffee. The mochiatto is watery and dark and honestly the worst I've tried in Perth. I had to set it aside. 5th...this is seriously the 7th time I've eaten here (if not 10th) and EACH time I ask for extra cheese knives for the cheese! You CAN NOT use the same knife for a strong bitey blue cheese, then contaminate a Brie or soft goats cheese using the same knife! It's not only impolite, but it ruins the cheese, it looks awful when blue cheese is stuck on the side of a cheddar or Brie or goats cheese and the cheese then is also ruined should someone not like the type of cheese that has contaminated the cheese they want to eat! 😬 #6 ...the Dessert Bar. Very very ordinary. 2 types of pannacotta, 3 dry and very pedestrian 'cake-like' bites, a caramel tart and a chocolate fudge(these were quite nice) and then your dry, pedestrian date pudding. Really...ordinary. Yes, they were sweets. Yes, I ate them to finish the meal...but very very 50% and totally not up to scratch when comparing with what could be coming out of your kitchen. The plus' were the very friendly and well trained staff. I can never fault the service at Montereys. The hot food was also lovely and very well made and with quality ingredients. Despite this, I used to always say "brilliant value for money" but tonight I'd say..."not worth the $55/head". Sorry Montereys...but you guys really dropped the ball tonight and all 5 of us were disappointed 😞😞😞. What happened?!?! 💁🏻💁🏻💁🏻
Lydia dined on Tue, 31st Jan 2017 (7)
Look, lovely food (not gastronomically spectacular by any means) but very good-however, this is not 2015...this menu is overpriced. The service...well the guy was lovely...tried hard but it wasn't his fault- they were understaffed! The imported waitress with the facial piercing was just plain full of attitude. It was like she felt she was doing us a favour.
Lydia dined on Tue, 24th Jan 2017 (8)
The food was 'lovely'...but c'mon. $42 for a plate of pasta? Yes it had crab...but I'm sorry, that's outrageous. Desserts for $16...yes...I've had similar price points but far more superior and at truly distinguished restaurants that come with a complete dining experience. I was impressed as we used a 50% off food Dimmi promotion so for what we received- yes. It was lovely. It if we had to pay double? I just wouldn't go back. The service and level of food doesn't warrant asking those prices. Just my opinion :-/
Lydia dined on Wed, 18th Jan 2017 (8)
Friendly service, used my name. Food was way too slow coming out-35 mins is just too long, especially after waiting 15 mins for my drink order. If the staff weren't so friendly, I probably wouldn't return but I'll give this place a 2nd run. They had some good lunch specials advertised.
Lydia dined on Sat, 14th Jan 2017 (10)
From Perth, and repeat customers. Amelia gave us the friendliest and prompt service. Food was exceptional quality and taste. Icy cold beers... We do love this place!
Lydia dined on Wed, 4th Jan 2017 (10)
We're regulars here. The menu is solid, with generous portions. Real food, real flavours and totally delicious. The draught beer is icy cold and the arrive is old school. We'll be back time and time again. 10/10
Lydia dined on Wed, 23rd Nov 2016 (4)
This is the 4th time I've been. The first 3 times were impeccable. Tonight though was very ordinary. Way too ordinary in fact. The scotch fillet was tough and gristley. The fondant tomatoes seemed...parcooked- blanched in fact. We couldn't work out if it was a salad of tomato or some weird par cooked 'thing' 😐. The sous vide potatoes were literally raw. No thanks. My beef ribs were lovely, but the tendon wasn't removed and it was tough and had an awful mouth feel. Chips needed more frying time as they were rather blonde...and the coleslaw had a 'nothing' dressing. Now I've ordered this dish twice before and it was NOTHING like it was tonight. My colleagues have ordered the scotch on 3 separate occasions and it looked nothing like the insipid plate we were served tonight. Desert was 'nice'. Well presented but not really well described in the menu. We both were expecting different flavours to what came out. Hannah the waitress was lovely and all staff were awesome. Whoever that chef was who was on duty tonight...please lift your game. I can see your playing up and effort was a 100% but clearly you'd do better with some mentoring from the other chefs who have nailed it in the past. Shame. I have a reservation for next week too but I'm thinking of cancelling. Can't have a repeat peeps. Tonight was just awful! Sorry!!! 😬
Lydia dined on Sat, 29th Oct 2016 (10)
How can you beat $35 for a Saturday buffet? The food is fresh and influenced by their Indian/middle eastern cuisine. It's different and remarkable! Todays soup was eggplant and honey...OMG! Compliments to the chef!!! We've been here over 10 times and we'llbe back.
Lydia dined on Thu, 20th Oct 2016 (8)
Service was pleasant, kind & friendly. They were really trying hard and that was great to see for Perth(!) Keep it up ❤️️ The food was nice. "Nice". Pleasant. Not mind boggling by any stretch of the imagination. The 'onion sauce that went with the pork belly was to die for (pork belly was way too dry 😬)The 2 chicken schnitzels we ordered were significantly different in portion size...they were 'nice' -just needed to be drained after frying a little more? The mashed potato was delicious (!!) as were the chips and mayo. Seriously good chips 👍 All in all it was...'nice'.
Lydia dined on Thu, 6th Oct 2016 (10)
Totally divine. An abundance of food! We had the set menu and we couldn't believe how much food came out! Enough for 1 extra person so we took it home. Very tasty and authentic. First time we've been and we'll be back. Thank you so much!! :)))
Lydia dined on Sun, 25th Sep 2016 (10)
We love coming to this buffet. We brought our 4 adult kids. The Sunday buffet is the cheapest, but we didn't know there's no ice cream, and the dessert bar is so very limited (not like the weekdays!) which is strange...since it's a SUNDAY! There were also no oysters, which we missed. Still, the service is wonderful and the food is fresh and ample and for the price, it's pretty good! :)
Lydia dined on Wed, 14th Sep 2016 (10)
Wonderful lunch! So delicious. Warning, sautéed kale is not sautéed, but geez...divine meal.
Lydia dined on Thu, 25th Aug 2016 (10)
Nice place! We had the lamb and that was really tender and tasty!
Lydia dined on Fri, 12th Aug 2016 (10)
Wonderful food. Cooked in small batches so holds its integrity-unlike mass buffets! Less selection, but quality and way more than enough anyway. Eat here. The service was lives and how can you beat a $35 lunch including coffee & tea!?!

Loved our lunch. Kinda pricey but geez the food was good :)))

Ana I get fresh salads. Dressings were awesome and generous servings. They were muchly appreciated. I had the gnocchi and it was perfect. The sauce was soooo tasty! Great job guys. Oh! Service/ friendly, helpful and personable. Rate for Perth so again, well done! 👍👍👍

Deep flavours. Lovely presentation. Handy location.
Lydia dined on Wed, 6th Jul 2016 (10)
Ok, so this is the 3rd time back here in 2 months and I'm going back again for dinner this Thursday night! I LOVE THE FOOD HERE! Deep flavours, great portions, a huge range on the menu and they seem to nail each dish. I've tried others (my friends who ate with me!) and they were all to die for. You must try this place. The service is really awesome too. For Perth, that's saying a lot!
Lydia dined on Sun, 3rd Jul 2016 (10)
Just wonderful, great tasting food, with large portions. You'll be well fed. Our 2nd time here and we're happy as! (The desserts were slightly ordinary though. Carrot cake was a bit dry and the lemon merengue was an ordinary non-zingy lemon curd with 'doughy' crust). So not fab on the dessert....but the Main's are 11/10!! We'll be back 👍👍👍
Lydia dined on Wed, 8th Jun 2016 (10)
Seriously the best pork ribs I've ever had in my life!!!

Good fare. As usual. A business regular hot spot.
Lydia dined on Fri, 20th May 2016 (9)
Beautiful food. Service was excellent -until it got busy at around 7pm and service was nowhere to be seen, but always friendly and helpful when hailed down! We had a lovely night and the food is quality.
Lydia dined on Wed, 18th May 2016 (7)
Service was friendly but the only staff was hidden from view the whole time. Food was actually lovely. I'd come back but geez, decor is suffering, no mood to it at all. Awkward. But for food, yes. It was tasty.
Lydia dined on Tue, 17th May 2016 (10)
Had a business group dinner here. Geez the food was good. Great steaks. Fab fish and chips. Good honest bar food and a great variety of beer on tap. Keep it up :)
Lydia dined on Fri, 6th May 2016 (6)
Oh look. It was not bad. I probably would avoid going back. The service was helpful (although not even close to readily available)...the mussels were sour (weird)...the prawns were nice, but way expensive ($24 for 3 prawns...Umm..no)...the watermelon, halloumi and honey/mint salad was ok, but the halloumi was totally rubbery like it had been precooked 5 hours ago (probably had). The lamb was delicious though (although easily done at home- nothing to it) and the dessert (kataifi with ouzo sorbet) was the winning dish. The crunchy pastry and delicate custard was a winner. Overall...? Yeah...but no. Perth is way to competitive now where patrons can go to places which offer better food at far better value. It was a lovely day out though- decor was cool, but just a bit over priced for what you got, I thought.
Lydia dined on Wed, 27th Apr 2016 (10)
Lovely as always. Been here 8 times and it's perfect each time. Check your receipt though...they accidentally overcharged us and I forgot to look until after we were home :( Oh well!
Lydia dined on Mon, 18th Apr 2016 (10)
7th time here. Wonderful flavours and warm family service. I just really like this place.
Lydia dined on Thu, 31st Mar 2016 (10)
All 4 of us had an array of appetizers/entrees to start. Everything was fresh and servings were generous. We had to wait a while for the food as they seemed understaffed...but these guys really tried hard to impress. The staff were so friendly and attentive- they did well. The food is actually quite exceptional. Hubby had the surf 'n turf and the quality of the meat was extraordinary. My brother had the mixed grill. Super generous sizing and very well cooked and seasoned. Sister in law had the beef eye fillet (she always orders the steak!) and she kept raving on about how divine it was. I never order chicken, but this time I had the Camembert stuffed chicken breast and wowzers! So rich and delicious. The cheese sauce was heavenly!!! We were so full we couldn't eat dessert! Thanks for an A1 meal. We all said we'll be back for sure!! :)
Lydia dined on Tue, 22nd Mar 2016 (9)
Been here 3 times. Very tasty food. Great experience. Ribs are awesome. Not majorly important, but serving Mexican food on Japanese plates is just totally weird!! 😜
Lydia dined on Mon, 21st Mar 2016 (9)
Parking's a nightmare but the food is always reliably good. Tasty and fresh. Just CBD prices. Nice atmosphere and a great place to go for lunch.
Lydia dined on Tue, 15th Mar 2016 (9)
Lovely meal. Awesomely creative combination of flavours....the kind where you go "...Mmmmmm....! What IS that???!" You must try their super fresh-ocean water tasting oysters with sangria sorbet. Delish! My other faves were the sriracha chicken wings with blue cheese sauce. Loved the apple slaw- it had an invisible dried seaweed/Japanes/umami flavour in the dressing. Fantastic, and yes...even for slaw. The squid was brilliantly charred- spot on. Man n cheese-Hello!!! Even had truffle oil on it. The only thing I'd pass on we're the beef flank skewers...they played up nicely but it was just good steak on a stick. Meh. Husband loved them though so if you're a bloke, possibly best to ignore my opinion! 😜 I'd go here again. For sure. Try it.
Lydia dined on Thu, 25th Feb 2016 (8)
I do love this place...but geez it's expensive! Great for a special occasion...and if you go, you MUST try their fresh scallops sashimi- so sweet and succulent! The food is beautiful but you do pay for it do be prepared! In this current economy, I think more and more people want value* but hey...the food presentation and freshness is very special here. Enjoy, but bring some cash!! x
Lydia dined on Thu, 18th Feb 2016 (10)
We come here often for the $25 lunch special and $5 glasses of wine! It's always excellent. Today's serve of chicken satay was a lot smaller than usual though (GASP!) but the catamelized beef was delicious as always. I love it how it comes with ample amounts of rice...not like other restaurants that charge $3-$4 per oerdon and you get a tiny ramekin. Hello!?! The service here has always been attentive and spot on. And who can complain about the free filtered tap water and sparkling?! I think I had about 5 glasses! All in all, for $30, I was super well fed, with quality food, awesome service and had a great lunch. Thank you x
Lydia dined on Sun, 14th Feb 2016 (10)
Come here all the time!
Lydia dined on Sun, 14th Feb 2016 (9)
Well presented food...great value for kids meals. Service was friendly- they really tried hard. Good value cafe dining...just probably could do with a re-vamp of decor to be a bit more competitive but sometimes, understated is ok too!
Lydia dined on Thu, 11th Feb 2016 (10)
Ok. You must go here. I've been here 3 times, twice in the past week...once for lunch, once for dinner. The dinner was even better than the lunch (only cause I got to see what the whole table ordered at lunch and got the best off the menu for dinner tonight! ;) It's been a while since I had a meal whereby every morsel stops you in your tracks and you look at your partner and go..."ohh my Goddd...this is soooo beautiful....) but thankfully, tonight was one of them. One downer and only 1- be prepared for the meal to take a little longer than usual to come out. The service was brilliant. Attentive and friendly but just a bit slow on the food. BUT...the quality of the produce more than compensated. We ordered, and I recommend the charcuterie tasting plate. Massive portions for only $18. The best chicken parfait I've ever tried. I had this twice. Leave the chorizo- it was yummy but small portion. Go the pork terrine, black pudding (the best I've ever had- no exaggeration here...) the prosciutto and the chicken parfait with Pedro axe mines reduction...HELLO! Then of course the dip...the bread- gorgeous. Olives- fresh and delicious. I ordered carpaccio- and it was on par with the best I've ever had- truffle scented overtones. Seriously amazing. Main's-hubby had the 300gr rump chefs special and whatever that buttery bernaise thingy was I totally died and went to heaven. I had the 28hr slow roasted skirt steak with the cheek croquette and potato gratin and again- sensational. I'm a chef mind you. I was totally impressed with this food quality. Honestly? I couldn't fault ANY of the food. I saw the chef taking a break and stopped to thank him. Hubby and I decided to come back for our anniversary dinner tonight and I'm glad we did. This place is a must try- seriously!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍

Standard good fare. Convenient location and the portions are good. I've been coming here for years as a good trusty standard!

This was about about the 5th time I'd been here tonight and Saffron's never disappointed me. Always fresh and vibrant. We had the Prawn Goan Curry (yummy) and Lamb Mugati (?) -both had deep layers of rich flavor and perfectly spiced. It's our local for Indian now for sure!!!

It was a great lunch! It took quite a while coming out, especially since they weren't busy...by geez, my fish and chips were fresh and crunchy!! Yum!! Chips never got soggy. They catered to my friends special request and the service was friendly. We'll be back.

It's the 2nd time I've been here and it was even better than the first. Lovely mixed flavours- great portion sizes and just good food. Not overly priced too which is always pleasant. We had the deep fried mixed cheese platter which was awesome...the masa hating dumplings were huge and also delicious...Ribs were brilliantly tasty (maybe not as 'falling off the bone' as I like though) and the last dish with a tricky name (beef, black beans & garlic rice) was to die for! Service- well, they tried hard and it was noticed. Yep is come back!

A venu with a relaxed and stylish decor. Food was tasty and presentable and in fair portions. I had a good meal here. Yep, I'd come back.

I've had dinner here about 5 times and it's always been excellent food and service. Tonight they had staff but seemed to be less attentive but I think it was just an off night. They've always been spot on! I noticed the decor had changed too. Far more upmarket to do it's really quite lovely. I can't fault the food. You'll have a good night here. And the BYO aspect makes it even more attractive.

Service was outstanding. It's so nice to see a staff member standing, on gaurd, watching over a section of the restaurant. Its always lovely when we come here. Not cheap Japanese, but excellent qualoity- very very fresh fish (sashimi) and all meticulously and beautifully presented in true Japanese fashion.

Good flavours. Friendly service. Not a rip off, which is always nice these days. The menu was full of variety but not so huge it's annoying...pork ribs were done perfectly. So was hubby's steak...although the chipotle sauce we got was wayyy too hot! Maybe ask for salsa if you're not into heat. Only downers: 1, entree came out with my mains, which was about 8 minutes before hubby meal (HATE THAT!!) and secondly...they still serve ALL their meals on sushi sized rectangular Japanese platters!?!?! 😱 Big El's used to be a Japanese restaurant and the haven't don't much to the decor to disguise that 😐. Every single piece of plateware was Japanese. Kinda weird. Oh well...the good was good!!! 👌

Just a nice place to eat. Staff was very accommodating. Nice cosy and warm. Quite a few beers to choose from which was kinda nice. They didn't have cider on the menu which was a bummer. The corn chips were really good quality...food was 'enough' but wouldn't call it a pig out but good flavors. Queso dip could've been a bit more packed with cheese flavour (rather than a roux-like mild sauce :( but we were starving and it all still went down a treat ;) Dessert- Churros were brill.Like seriously brill. Try this place just for the Churros if you have to. Better than San Churros in my opinion :) Dessert nachos rocked and I also had the Icecream with tequila infused with cocoa & coffee which really was sensational. Went with 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we all had a good time.

Could have been brilliant.flavouirs were excellent although the Kingfish Ceviche was cut about 6mm thick (Ewww!!) and the "slow roasted port neck fillet" was more like an ultra lean and semi dry steak. Deep flavouts though but those few things detracted from the experience and brought it back down to "it was okayyyy".

I booked as a special evening/occasion to celebrate. Our waitress had such a strong accent that neither of us could understand her. The menu was ridiculously limited- 7 mains to choose from. Nothing stood out as delicious sounding but we choose the lamb rump and asked for it 'medium rare'. The waitress said the chef only cooks it to a medium. Now...I am a chef and I know what this means. I asked if the steak is pre-cooked...and she said "no". I quizzed her...she acted as if she couldn't understand me. I knew better, so we asked for the menu again and both decided on the beef cheeks with ricotta gnocchi. After some time we were told they "had run out of the gnocchi..." Now for 7pm on a Tuesday night, with only 1 other table present...that is RIDICULOUS. They only had 7 dishes to prep for! So since the service was crap, the menu crap...the lighting so bad my date nicked a tea light from another table to see me...the air con was freezing cold...just so wrong. We paid for our entree and drinks and split. Couldn't stay a moment longer. Btw -$19 for 2 small scallops and 2 mini cubes of pork belly (albeit tasty-yet slightly overdone) was a rip off. Sorry Butterworth. We won't be back.
