Razzle-dazzle If you’re wanting a casual, light-hearted meal, then stay at home. This dining experience is for those wishing to be indulgently spoilt, in the highest capacity. Situated in the beautiful Palazzo Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast, Vanitas Restaurant is the most highly revered restaurant of late. Opulence galore, with a strict dress code to boot, bookings are required to secure your table. Degustation menus available and compulsory for larger groups whilst smaller tables can enjoy the very sophisticated a la carte offerings such as violet gnocchi, Burrawong duck, or suckling pig for entrée. Divine desserts tantalise and the views over the lagoon, which is part of the overall luxurious feel of the hotel, tempt you to stay until the wee hours sipping on just one more fortified wine. Harper’s Bazaar calls this place “the most fashionable restaurant around the world”, and with gorgeous Versace china you can tell they mean serious business. Best dish: Coral Trout
