Shakey Tables gets its name from the eclectic assortment of funky tables and chairs gracing the dining room. Artist-turned-chef Paula Rengger's colourful paintings brightens the walls, and the plates are equally artful. Her Scottish heritage informs the menu with such delights as haggis rolled in venison, and roast pigeon stuffed with black pudding & prunes. Grab a seat to dine on the red couch if you can. "Shakeys" also offers a small loungy corner to enjoy a tipple or two, and its wine list offers a who's who of top Hunter and regional Australian drops.
