This snazzy little bistro is a hidden foodie retreat for savvy local suits. It offers a welcome change from the surrounding food court fare, without soaring towards the financial heights of many of its Circular Quay neighbours. Chef Gavin Foster (formerly of Bathers' Pavilion) serves up a concise modern Australian menu, ranging from a duck salad with glazed quince and toasted macadamias; to pan-fried barramundi with white bean skordalia and sweet pepper salsa. No decadent weekday lunch is complete without a wee drop of something from the wine list: a smart selection compiled by award-winning sommelier Chris Morrison. Every few months, this lauded wine wizard teams up with the Selah chef to put on a dinner, combining Foster's fine food with a carefully chosen range of global wines.

"Tucked away on the side of Customs House, Selah overlooks a small park and is a stone's throw away from Circular Quay. Beautiful food and presentation - have been here several times and can never fault it. Service staff are generally good and attentive, and while the quaint dining room is intimate enough, it does adjoin to an RSL / pokies area (very different when you need to go to the bathroom!). All in all a very dependable restaurant for top-notch food!"

"Great, intimate restaurant, food was great, prompt service and just the perfect amount of time between courses. We had the pre theatre dinner, which I found to be excellent value. Will definitely return."

"Beautiful, perfectly cooked food and great service. They rearranged a bunch of tables to give us a window without us asking. Would definitely recommend. "

"We chose this place based on the ratings and comments on the Eatability site. Generally I agree with the positive comments although I felt the mains serving sizes were a little on the small size and not hot enough. Service was very good, attentive without being intrusive.Very good wine list. The atmosphere was very nice with soft lighting, a nice energy without feeling overcrowded. Would I go again? Yes but not any time soon. Suggestion ask for a table near the front windows .Avoid the back of the restaurant near the door leading to the restrooms."
