"The food is great. The service was slow, 3 main courses service and the fourth person was served after 10min. The waitress was nice giving me extra bread and wine while I was waiting."

"We ordered the eggs benedict with hollandise sauce and the Rocks breakfast. Took a while for the food to come out, food was average to ok, wasn't spectacular. The hollandise sauce was a bit diluted from what I'm used to. The cavern-like atmosphere was beautiful though."

"My wife and I had dinner at Scarlett for her birthday. Very attentive pleasant waitress who looked after us. Not your large crowded noisy resturant, rather small and intimate. We had mains and entree, shared desert. The food portions were just enough. The food itself was excellent, great flavours, well presented. Even with drinks didn't think it was expensive for what you get. Definately will go back. Highly recommended."

"Intimate and comfortable venue Although a small menu, there is enough to tempt the tastebuds. Excellent quality produce, put together tastefully! We both had the beef which was perfectly cooked and presented with the chefs own secret recipe butter sauce. Loved the building.. Dont forget to ask about the ghosts roaming the building! "

"Had the $35 two course plus wine set deal. Bread served as appetizers. Entree was lime and pepper squid which was good. The main was salmon fillet with a fennel risotto, in particular the salmon was very well cooked with crispy skin on top. Nice place to have lunch if you happen to be in the rocks."

"The service was too slow, maybe they didn't have enough staff for the evening. It took them about 30 min to take our order and 45 min to get our drinks and bread. if you have time to wait for your entree for 1 hour that is the place for you. However, the food was quite nice."

"Restaurant relatively new after hotel refurb with today being their first time open for weekend lunch. Service was excellent with an appealing yet not too extensive menu. There were 4 of us with 2 starters & 4 mains that were tasty, well presented & just big enough. Housed in the original convict hospital the original sandstone walls allow intimacy with the special touch of knowing you are in one of the oldest buildings in our nation. The upstairs bar with library & lounge chairs adds another dimension as does the verandah area down the hall from the restaurant. Very enjoyable. "

"We were given a private dining space, which was perfect for our family celebration. The historical setting is well presented and adds value to the evening. "Very cute little restaurant with great staff and lovely service! The food was very nice and there was a good variety of choices on the menu. The atmosphere is the only let down. It is very quiet and you feel like you have to whisper so that you don't interrupt the people next to you. Also the lighting on the tables along the sofa wall makes it feel like an intense interview. Other than that, a great little place and excellent location!"

"This was our 4 th visit and the restaurant's first night with the new chef from Europe. The food and service this night 30th December was not as good as before but overall this is definelty worth a try. Especially for their $25/$35 set menu with wine. Probably the best value in the Rocks."

"Diner beware - if our evening was any guide, then this restaurant is a blight on the Sydney dining scene. There is no way that it deserves its current high rating. First to the positives (which are few): the location is great, very close to the Harbour. The interior is minimalist but fresh and modern. The waitress, while very inexperienced by her own admission, was informative, cheerful and handled our complaint very well. However, the food was below disappointing. My lamb fillet was tasteless and I ended up leaving most of it on the plate. However my wife's duck could only be described as raw, a description that the waitress agreed with. And duck fat chips, which in my view are normally crispy, must have been cooked in cold fat (not sure how the chef?? managed to do that!). And to top it all off, my wife developed a gastric bug later that night. My advice - stay away."

"This is Pub food cooked badly. This restaurant had all the hallmarks of a dinner at a friends house but the friend can't cook, wasn't interested in serving you and just wanted you to stay so he looked popular. Analogies aside - I ordered the sword fish - much like a sword it was metallic tasting and hard as iron. My friend ordered strudel which must be code for mashy spinach in stale pouches of crisp bread. The waitress was a complete exclamation mark and actually 'joked' that we should just hurry up and order which makes me think the service wasn't that good either. Back to my literal sword fish - it was dry so I politely asked the seldom present wait staff for some sauce - 15 minutes later I was brought a small plate of a mixture of things which must have been lying around on the floor - with little chunks of green cut into it. I still feel ill. One positive is that it was set on a cute little back lane. I would have preferred to eat amongst crack addicts however if the food was better."
