For a dash of romance and a fine modern Italian feast, this popular cafe-restaurant perched on the sparkling River Torrens is an appropriate choice. Formerly Cafe Lago, the River Torrens Cafe offers much more than just sweeping water and city views; though the spread-out, three-tiered design does give every table a stunning sight. From the deck, you can hear the flowing man-made waterfall just outside and watch the ferries and boats float by. If the aromas wafting in from the open kitchen aren't tempting enough, then a squiz at the menu will whet that appetite. Lovers of gnocchi, risotto and linguini have much to relish, as do steak, duck, chicken and prawn fiends, with highlights including the handmade veal tortellini, the herb-crusted kingfish, and the wood oven-baked swordfish. Make it a special occasion with the extensive list of local and international drops on offer.

"The seafood was fresh and well cooked/presented. The goat dish, while tasty, could have been hotter as it was served in a Targine; it was expected to be steaming hot. Unfortunately is was not as expected, a minor criticism but..... . The service was friendly and attentive, a nice change from some establishments. Easy parking, close to the city and great views for those from out of town too. Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10. For a 10 out of 10 I would like to have a tad better value for money and dishes served at the optimum temperature. Cheers"

"We dined here on the Festival of Food deal and found it to be good value for money. I had linguine as my main course and it wasn't over-cooked as is often the case at other restaurants. We had a good time overall. "
