Situated at the more peaceful end of Ainslie's strip of shops and eateries, 2602 offers the sort of relaxed and friendly atmosphere that is prized in a neighbourhood local. Open as a cosy cafe during the day, 2602 is known for its great value breakfasts. However, at lunch and dinner, chef Ben Eveille gets to show off his skill with seafood with his marine critter-based menu. The seafood antipasto platter is a vibrant collage of colours and flavours - from tender baby octopus and king prawns to salty purple kalamata olives. A family-run (and family-friendly) enterprise, 2602's greatest strength is its open and approachable style, making it an asset to the postcode.

"This restaurant needs to take a good look at themselves. They charge fine dining prices, yet deliver sub standard food. Entree was great. My main of blue eye cod was undercooked. My husband's duck had to be eaten with his fingers because it was so tough. When I mentioned that my fish was undercooked, there was no apology. From either waitress! No apology from the chef. They couldn't get us out of the door quick enough. The owner should be ashamed of the way their staff dealt with a valid complaint. You can't serve a customer raw food and not responsibility! "

Hi Vanessa, Thank you for your feedback all feedback is much appreciated and it helps us with areas we need to work on and what to better train our staff on. We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at 2602 and do hope in the future you consider another dining experience with us. We pride ourselves on fresh local produce and great customer service. I understand from both yourself and the wait staff that were serving you that there was a communication break down our chef would have been more than happy to discuss this with you unfortunately this never happened and you left unhappy without an outcome rest assured that all staff involved have been spoken with and now understand how important a complaint should be handled. Regards, Mel

"Food was wonderful- we had fish and steaks, followed by a delicious pavlova desert. The staff were welcoming, polite and were efficient. It was a lovely evening."

"This is an expensive restaurant and does not offer value for money. Wine by the glass is almost $10. The fish dish my wife ordered came very lightly cooked and not even heated through so it had to go back to be cooked some more. The ambience is nothing special. I expect better for the price. "

"My partner and I dined at Restaurant 2602 for the first time, after hearing good things about the restaurant from colleagues we thought we must see it for ourselves. As we walked in we where welcomed by the waitress and shown to our seats, the waitress explained the fresh fish specials to us as she poured us some water. I asked where the seafood was from as I am rather fussy about the freshness of my seafood, she explaned to me that the chef gets it in from Sydney and the south coast and the specials change with the market. At this point I was impressed. My partner (not so keen on seafood) looked though the menu and was pleased to see alot of the menu was intolerance friendly and decided to go with the confit of duck, and a pumpkin and pear salad to start. She said the duck was cooked beautifully and the salad hit all the right notes. I decided to get the taste plate that was served with fresh rock oysters (my favourite!) and grilled garlic scallops, I must say the scallops were cooked perfectly for mains I went with the fish pie which was superb last but not least for dessert we had the rocky road parfait...what a way to finish it was delicious! My partner and I agree it was an excellent night and highly recommend and we will return. "

"We went on Valentine's Day and I had to remind the waitress that we did not yet have our appetizer seeing another couple had arrived after us and they received theirs. My steak was mostly grissle and fat and half of it was inedible. I did mention it to the waitress and she agreed it was pretty poor and would mention it to the chef. When my husband paid for the dinner, the waitress asked us how our entre and deserts were but no mention of any feedback from the chef in regards to the steak. I was looking forward to going to this restaurant but it was pretty awful and would not recomend it to anyone. So much for a romatic dinner."

"The food at 2602 was absolutely amazing - it's not the cheapest restaurant, but it was totally worth it! Also the portion sizes are very generous."
